Big things come in small packages!

By Daniel

from Cambridge, ON, Canada

I am so pleased with this pedal. I consider myself a bit of a tone chaser and this one pedal alone has been a great upgrade for me. I was originally looking for a second boost pedal as I found my first pedal (Keeley Katana) sounded so great turned on that I never wanted to turn it off, and now I needed something for solos. When I started looking around this EP booster jumped ahead in reviews and when I tried it the EP booster was so good! I find for me that the boost is actually more clear than my Katana, and it adds some depth and warmth to my overall sound. I've actually opted to have the EP booster turned on all the time in my setup, to drive my other pedals more and take advantage of the increase in tone quality. The bonus, it's so small it's super easy to find a space to squeeze it in on your board! Highly recommend this one!

Just the boost and only the boost

By Chuck Wallace

from Pasadena Texas

I purchased this pedal for a gig for a little club where we have an open mic night. As you all know not everyone can "hear" the relative volume. Some guys cant understand how to listen to monitors. This pedal will solve your problems in two ways. 1st way get your am set where you like everything, set your amp up and what you think you need for volume, run the pedal through your amps effects loop, listen and set the pedal to about 9-10 o'clock, play hit the pedal and adjust as needed. When you play lead your lead will cut through and you can just smoke it. 2nd way, just use to "turn up" when you need to project. I highly reccomend this through the effects loop. If you use this booster with a lot of gain this is a must. If you are going clean, use it from your instrument into the front end (input) it will sound very nice. I used this pedal a few minutes before leaving for the gig and when my solo came up I was loud and proud, it offers a lot of boost. You can adjust the tone of you open it. I liked mine the way it came. I hope this helps you, I play Metal and Hard Rock, very fast leads with EMG's usually the neck, this thing is the best boost I have found I can play without killing everyone. I got a lot of compliments on my sound, and questions about this pedal. I expect to see two or three next visit. Enjoy CJWII

Worth It!

By WARREN ADKINS

from Knoxville, Tennessee

My Blackstar HT Boost gave out and this has stepped in to fill the void very, very, well. It gives TONS of head room and does a fantastic job of articulating notes through my Blackstar amp (which is a somewhat dark sounding amp). It is and will be until it dies, always on in my signal chain.

4.5...only downfall is the price

By Casey Lockwood

from UT

This pedal is great. It is built like a tank, the footprint is super small, and it just sounds good. Obviously its a booster pedal, and it does that job perfectly. You can get loads of boost (+20dB) for breaking into solos, driving your amp, whatever you want, this thing pushes pretty hard. You don't lose any clarity while boosted either. Other boost pedals tend to suck and blanket the tone, this one seems to enhance it. The pedal is built to model the preamp section of an old echoplex. It is meant to texture your sound when its on. I've never used an echoplex, but I can say that this pedal does sweeten up the sound quite a bit. Clean tube amps become more shimmering and jangly. Driven tube amps become fuller, and more interesting. In the effects loop the pedal really sounds great, and adds a warm texture to your sound. You can get a lot of variation with where you put it in the signal chain. Before drive pedals and after will give a different kind of sound. I noticed on solid state amps with distortion, the pedal kind of smoothed out the top end and took away from the attack. Could have been my rig, but it still sounded ok. Another thing this pedal is great for is recording direct to your PC. I use an interface, and run this pedal between my guitar and the interface, and the tone going in is much more natural, and gives the recordings a much better sound. Its kinda like a preamp I guess. Finally, I feel like I need to state that the effect this pedal has is subtle. If you've got a decent ear, and been playing for awhile, you will be able to tell, and will probably find it favorable. I think alot of people buy this pedal, thinking it is some miracle pedal that will make them sound like Eric Johnson or something, but its not. Its kinda one of those things you turn on and go "oh ok, yeah, that does sound better" and then when you turn it off its like "woah, what happened!?!". So yes, the price is a tad high for a simple boost pedal, but this isn't just any boost pedal. It's meant to change your sound and it does sound great doing it. Recommended!

Amp Will Go To 11 Now!

By Daniel Dockery _ _

from Fort Collins, CO

If you find yourself wanting to reach around and turn the amp up just a bit during the show, get one of these. I have tried many boosters of the years so I don't have to mess with my guitar volume for solos. I even got pretty good at using my guitar volume, but this EP booster is the one. Brent Mason uses one. Enough said. If you have good tone this just makes it a little or a lot louder. You just set the knob then click the switch on and off when you need it. You will find you leave it on a lot though.

ep booster

By brian Barta

from washington

This pedal is great. It takes the preamp of an ep3 (echoplex) and turns it into a boost pedal. There is a treble boost, and a separate bass boost inside the pedal, and for the original preamp just switch them both off. That is not an original feature to the echoplex, but its a decent idea. The treble sounds really good through a les paul with the pick up switch in the middle position and the treble pickup about half way down. This pedal takes other boost/overdrive pedals in front of it really well too.

Best Pedal out there

By STANLEY RUTKOWSKI

from Michigan

This is my favorite pedal on my board (now running two, one in front of my overdrive and distortion and one after). Great tone, rounds off the rough edges after my overdrive and distortion and sounds great with two stacked. This is now an always on pedal for me.
