Quality sound for an affordable price.

Wuhan "Western-Style" splashes, crashes, hi-hats, and rides are created by Wuhan's cymbal craftsman and have a distinct, unmistakable character. Generally thinner than other cymbals, they produce a breathy wash of overtones and a comfortable cushion of sound that is complex and very musical.

I picked up both the 10" and the 12" versions of this splash because of the ridiculously low price, and their reputation as "fast-breaking, but good." I must say I was very impressed by the sound these splashes had to offer to my kit. The 10" was preferable over the 12" simply because it sounded more like a splash, but I found that the 12" actually worked nicely when used like a crash. I really like the fact that they produce a richer, warmer sound similar to the Zildjian K's, but also add a trashy, more China-ish sound at the same time. Accordingly, they really shine in hard rock and metal drumming, while not so much in light rock or alternative. As for the quality and durability, they do break much quicker than other cymbals- after about 1 year of intense playing, but for the price, you can't really go wrong. Don't bother paying extra for the extended warranty or anything. Just pick up a new one when it breaks. Every drummer should at least try the Wuhans once because there's nothing to lose, and who knows? They may just end up becoming a regular in your arsensal.

  • Best sounding splash on the market

As reviewed by Tony Sanford on 4/20/2010

I have owned lots of name brand cymbals over the years, but the Wuhan 12" splash is the best sounding splash I have ever had. This is the second one that I have bought. The first got left with a set at a previous church.

  • Probably not worth the price...

As reviewed by Mitch on 12/13/2010

I bought this Wuhan 12'' cymbal from guitar center a year ago. Ok, i can say I hit hard, but not super hard. I play Metalcore and use this alot before breakdowns. If you're a heavy hitter, go with a zildjian K or something. but lightly will last a few years. I cracked this at the bell and in the middle with the lathing.
