At first I was set on buying the Pocketrockit v2, but then I saw this. I bought this without doing much research, but when I recieved it yesterday it was one of the best accessories I have ever bought. All the effects are great and its nice to be able to have them clipped to your belt. Definately buy this because it is easy to hook up to speakers during the day for regular amplification, while at night using it with headphones doesn't wake anyone in my house but I still hear what I'm playing with the effects. overall a great buy for a beginner or guitar veteran.

I'm not impressed with this unit. The only useful effects are the Delay and Reverb. Everything else is either useless, or in the case of the Chorus, goes from too little to too much. The distortion is muddy. It starts out good then I don't know what happens. So most of the time is spent fine tuning to get a decent sound. There is a built in Noise Gate and Compressor which can't be turned off. So the sustain of the guitar is killed especially on string bends. I guess if you want portability you can't get everything.

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

I bought this inexpensive device to give my Kustom Pro 50 some effects and I must say it sounds aw-some! I'm actually thinking of buying another one for miking it through another channel. I haven't used it yet through headphone but I'm sure I won't be disappointed when I do!

Have to be realistic about what you've got here...

By Peter Bohte

from Lake Havasu City AZ.

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

My IGTR mini amp is a really cool tool, it is not a replacement for the real deal amp, boxes and pedals. That said for the $ is totally cool. I've set up experianced player and kids just starting out with this and all have had a good experiance. You can easily overdrive the unit and it sounds like, well, terrible or you can keep it within the bounds that it functions and it is just friggin great. The dual earpiece outlet is great for teaching how to use the wah wah, reverb and so on. The cable to any new small stereo is awesome for a young beginer who wants to share it for a small group. The best thing is you can go anywhere and find that place your at peace playing in and do it. Try that with an amp, equipment etc. etc., You can't do it. I took this out on the lake, with a cassette adaptor to play mp3s or a cd player and we had a blast. Bring extra batteries or a cig lighter to aux power input and there's no end to the enjoyment you can share. Beach Boys songs till we were just toasted out tired. Great value, but be gentle, don't ask for the whole world out this and you'll be real happy with it. ENJOY LIFE!!

good product for the price

By David Ziffer

from Hopkins, MN

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

Fine product worth the money (so far - I've had it only 2 weeks). I use it to practice on a noisy city bus with my Traveler Escape during my commutes. No, iGTR is not a full-featured palm-sized multi-efx box - for that you'll need to get into the $100 range and get something like a Korg Pandora. I almost returned my unit because I didn't realize it has a volume knob (on the side) so be sure to turn this up. iGTR is VERY sensitive on input so if you have an "active" pickup you'll need to turn the guitar volume WAY down. iGTR is plenty loud but if you're in heavy noise like I am you'll need full padded headphones, not earbuds or open-airs. The EFX are tolerably good for practice. You can't use them in every desired combo (for example delay + reverb) because they are ganged on the 3 knobs, but hey it's just practice. Battery life is fine, so I don't know what complainers are talking about. Get two 4-packs of Rayovac Platinum AAA rechargeables and a charger, and after that your batteries for this thing are effectively free. I've put several hours on my first charged set so far, no problem.

out of the box with problems, just okay otherwise.

By Tom Nolette

from North Andover, MA

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

So from the get go, my iGTR has had problems, but too much time has elapsed to try to return it. It cuts out to silence if I strum too hard like it hits some limit. you have to power cycle it to get it back on. Sometimes instead of cutting out it blasts full volume static. Again this is straight out of the box. I might try lithium batteries to see if it a lack of current with regular alkaline batteries. Okay, so put aside that aspect of it. Let's talk about how it works when it is working. The dirty sound is just okay, there is little to do tone-wise. I do find tweaking the tone knobs on the guitar itself, you can get and okay sound (tried on Les Paul and Strat). So it has other effects, but basically you will only end up using reverb or delay. The reverb is not really reverb, it is more delay at a fast pace the emulates reverb. Also you have to chose between reverb, chorus, or delay. In my opinion the reverb should be on its own. But I can see why from a hardware/cost cutting perspective they have one delay-engine so it must accommodate chorus and reverb too, else be duplicated. If mine actually worked right, I think it is just okay. For the money it is probably worth it. Though the sound is not something I would want to put through a real amp. It is no Boss/Line6 calibre for sure. However,I do find it a novelty to be able to walk from room to room and keep playing. It comes with a belt clip, which is fine, though the clip itself is weak plastic and flimsy. I instead clip it on my guitar strap which has loop that snugs up against the clip to keep it more securely fastened. If mine worked right I would recommend it for a beginner. Otherwise not so great. It is really inexpensive, so I guess you do get what you pay for.

Perfect to study

By Bruno Jorge

from Sao Paulo - SP

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

Pretty cool gadget for study! Come on... You won't expect from it the PERFECT tune, right? If you do don't be fool and try professional equipments. But if you want to practice and don't want to bother anyone else late at night this is kind a perfect! Use it with batteries and kill that lot of wires that makes me crazy!

Trouble free practice

By Tom Taylor

from Ridgefield, Wa

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

I bought the amp for practice, because it was too much work to drag out the big amp, all the pedals, etc... just to play a little bit. Now I just grab the guitar case, and it's all in there. Quick and easy to use, and the effects sound great. I love this thing. I get the urge to play, and 5 minuetes later, I'm playing.

Lame Product

By EBGDAE

from Mid-Coast Maine

Comments about Waves iGTR Modeling Guitar Headphone Amp:

The first one I got did not work, which was a great disappointment. It is slick looking and appears to have a great amount of adjustibility. Basically there is no clean sound and if you love overpowering reverb or delay than this is for you. There is n such thing as a little adjustment. It jumps right to overwhelming effects. As a practice product it sucks as you can never really adjust it so it sounds decent (and it ain't the playing). There are a number of cheaper products that do what this product claims. Ultimately you will regret the money waste. I recommend that you actually try it before you buy it.
