Comments about Washburn WG27SE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been in the market to get a couple of decent acoustic-electrics, so after researching a dozen or so, I headed off to the Fort Worth, TX Guitar Center. After playing the ones that I *thought* that I'd buy, and many more that caught my eye, I ended up playing this one on a whim. I was amazed at the quality of craftsmanship and sound of this guitar! So rich and clean.

The design is absolutely gorgeous as well. The mixed, multi-color woods are just fantastic, and the joinery is top-notch on the purfling and binding. The rosewood back and sides are flawless, and overall, the visual appeal is outstanding.

I was also really impressed by how well it stayed in tune on the way home after jostling in and out of the case and just bumping it around in transit. I did much better in that aspect than the Ibanez hog that I bought at the same time. The tuners feel clean and solid, and the electronics are excellent.

My girlfriend was with me when we went to the store, and she grabbed right onto this one after I pulled it down and started playing it. I ended up buying another guitar as well, as I was looking for a cutaway acoustic-electric, so this one became hers, and now I get to teach her how to play!

Can't say enough about this guitar. Well done, Washburn! I'm in the process of ordering the same guitar with the cedar top and cutaway for myself, I'm so impressed.

Comments about Washburn WG27SE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for over a year now. Went to buy a Yamaha 730 but played this and was very impressed. The sound is great, the attention to detail is amazing. Here are my complaints: the playability is so so, the neck is very thin causing my hand to feel fatigued quickly, The digital tuner seems a bit slow to pick up the tone so it sometimes reads out of tune when it actually is. The tuners it came with were very poor quality. I have put some time, money, and energy into this guitar and I can say that it plays better and sounds much better. I first replaced the tuners with grover tuners. I also replaced the ABS saddle and nut with bone which caused major improvements in tone. I lowered the strings as well and now plays and sounds pretty sweet. The last thing I did was add a custom pick guard which in my opinion made this guitar go from looking nice to looking beautiful. All in all, it's a drain good guitar for the price.

Been playing guitar for only two years .. Can't compare this to Martin's or Gibson because they are just way too expensive for me..I did play my friend's Martin..Love this guitar more.. Love everything about this guitar..Fell in love with it the moment I picked it up and played it.. Playability the sound which I was really impressed with..Don't know if in the strings or what but I'm not changing a thing..And the pickup is unbelievable..Better than my Yamaha..I get many compliments at jams..On the guitar ..Not me...Lol..This is a great bang for the buck..I am very extremely happy with this purchase

Comments about Washburn WG27SE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am a long time musician, but a novice guitarist so take this for what it's worth. HOWEVER two friends who are forty year guitarists, who routinely record in my studio, have contributed to this review by giving me their opinion. R plays nothing but Martins, and D is a Gibson, Fender, Taylor, Martin guy. When we first played this FINE guitar we were all impressed with the beautiful tone and serious volume of the instrument. You will have NO problem being heard. The grand auditorium body of solid Spruce and Rosewood was flawlessly executed. The satin Finish Mahogany neck is just a dream to have in your hands and the playability is now superb! Then add the great abalone accents and this is a true beauty. Acoustically the sound is rich and full in the mid ranges and bass registers with a pronounced brightness in the highs. This guitar has significantly better tone than several of the guitars I played... Ones in the same price range, AS WELL AS AT 2X - 4X more $$$. In comparison, I played Fender's CD-60E CD140 and Sonoran, Ibinez, Yamaha, Taylor, Mitchell, and Takamine's. There was absolutely no comparison in the Great Tone of This Guitar. The presentation and first impression of this instrument is that it looks, feels, and plays like a much more expensive guitar. THANKS WASHBURN!
I was initially disappointed that the electronics were not Fishman, but this quickly dissipated after plugging this guitar in to both my X32 mixer directly via XLR as well as through a direct box using 1/4" T/S. The onboard active preamp is sweet and clean and produces a great sound with good control over the frequency spectrum and fully controllable via the onboard EQ . The addition of both balanced XLR and 1/4" T/S connectors is a great plus for recording or live playing. The onboard tuner is easy to use and is accurate.

What a beautiful sounding instrument, almost as loud as a piano, great to look at and easy to play, although many "pickers" may want to lower the action.

Comments about Washburn WG27SE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for the price. It sounds amazing with plenty of volume unplugged. I have not used it amplified enough to rate the pick-up and preamp. The biggest problem that I have encountered was quality control from the factory. The first guitar that I bought developed a rattle in the bridge area (loose brace?) after just an hour of playing. The second one sounded great but had a missing piece of abalone on the rosette. The third was the one that I will stick with. With enough examples to choose from you could find a really good guitar for the cost and it is a very nice looking instrument. I only gave it three stars because of the inconsistent quality.

Comments about Washburn WG27SE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been looking for a second acoustic electric as a backup guitar to my Taylor 210 DLX. I found this guitar online, as well as a used Breedlove Pursuit Dreadnaught at my local Guitar Center. I went in to play both, and ended up chosing the Breedlove simply because the electronics sounded so much better then the Washburn. Almost immediately, I began to regret my decision. The Breedlove sounded muted and hollow, but plugged in, sounded great. I played the Breedlove over the weekend at a couple of gigs, and even though I really liked the pickup sound, when I tried to tweak it with my LR Baggs ParaAcoustic DI, I just wasn't able to get what I wanted. It was either too middy, or too much treble. Maybe I was looking for a reason to take the Breedlove back and exchange it for the Washburn. Regardless, that's just what I did. I just can't believe the difference in sound quality the Washburn has over the Breedlove. The resonance of the Washburn is amazing. In fact, I now find myself picking up the Washburn over my Taylor. That's not to say the Washburn is in the league of my Taylor, but it sure is fun to play! Haven't had a chance to really try out the EQ4T electronics live yet, but when I do, you can count on an update on this review. This is a great guitar for the money! It's a shame Washburn is overlooked by so many working musicians. I don't think they know what their missing. This is a quality mid priced acoustic electric.
