i bought one of these for my grandson, to learn on, but mainly to keep him out of my music room, playing my martins and gibsons, denting and scratching them up, the reason why, i had a washburn years ago, great acoustic i sold it, i wish i still had it, sounded every bit as good as my martins and gibsons. i bought this online, i really didn't want to, i always try out an acoustic before buying, but this model was not in stock,so i took a chance, and i was pleasantly surprized when i recieved it, being made in china i was a bit skeptical, so i went over it with a fine tooth comb, and after changing the strings and a slight adjustment of the neck and saddle, it's perfect. all acoustics need this because of the nature of the beast, the acoustic sound is good, as good or better than any other guitar in this price range, electricly it sounds every bit as good as my other acoustics, very good, where the washburn stands out is fit and finish, the neck and fret's perfect, the binding, abalone inlay, tuners, inlay around headstock perfect, also i dont see any laminate wood, i see solid woods, very well built, will sound better with time as the wood age's, this is one of the best acoustic electrics out there.
Pros: Sounds Great, plays very easy, looks beautiful. Cons: Strings broke within an hour, tuners missing screws. sound hole is 3 3/4 so a 4 inch cover will not fit. Had to modify cover. String pegs were installed wrong when strings were installed. Some pegs were coming out of holes. All in all for the price I would have expected better QC. but I like this axe and how it plays. I can fix all this cheaper than sending back. I always tweak every guitar I have owned. This one is no exception.
I bought my Washburn on Memorial Day and it has been a complete joy to play. I was looking for a new acoustic guitar and I had been considering a Breedlove cedar top acoustic for some time. I saw the Washburn and decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. It has such a great tone whether or not it is plugged in and it is so comfortable and easy to play. I never thought I could find a guitar like this for only $399.00. Thanks to Henry at GC in Portland for helping me with the decision to buy the guitar and for turning me into an instant fan of Washburn acoustics.
I got this A/E with my nephew about a month ago at the Rancho Cucamonga G.C.store. The manager Arnie Newman, an acomplished guitarist, was patient and very helpful in helping us compare and find just the right guitar in our price range. Unplugged the Washburn out-shined every other guitar in our price range, not only in over all sound, but clairity + tone with a nice brite sound. The action is low and very fast, but has no fret buzz what-so-ever, which surprised me for an acoustic-electric or any new guitar for that matter, with no previous set-up. Plugged in it was far nicer than either of us expected, we were absolutely amazed at the wide range of sounds it can produce, the EQ was exelent, and the on-board tuner worked perfectly and was very easy to use. He played it for over an hour & a half strait when we got home only taking small 1 or 2 minute breaks occasionally to rest his fingers. He's very happy with this guitar & so am I. I hope htis review was helpful
