I was stunned when I pulled this bass out of the box. I love the natural wood and appreciate the non-glossy finish (I hated fingerprints on my old bass). The bass feels extremely solid and doesn't have any imperfections. I'm blown away by the tone. It sounds punchy and crisp. There was a bit of fret buzz out of the box, but now that the bass has adjusted to the temperature and humidity in my house, it plays like a dream. For this price, you can't find a better bass.
Let me start by saying you will not find a better bass guitar in this price range hands down. The fit and finish is first class. There is not an imperfection anywhere on the instrument. When I purchased this there was 4 of them sitting side by side. Each of them were perfect. The only difference was the depth of the color in the wood. Each of them played the same. Factory setup was very good. The tones that come from this are amazing. Very deep tight punchy lows, very present mids and nice bright sharp high end. For a passive setup it has more punch than any other bass I've played. For comparison I also own an American Fender Precision, a Fender Geddy Lee jazz, a Peavey neck thru Cirrus and a neck thru Aria AVB 100. The Washburn T24 is at that level of instruments. It's a pretty beefy instrument. It's not light by any means, which I like. The neck has a great feel and is quite quick. The pickups have great sound and are very quiet. The weakest link in the package is the pots. I think with better tone pots you could really get better control over the tone adjustments. They are not bad, could be better. Now for the best part. I drove 1 1/2 hours to the Guitar Center in Danvers Mass. to try a Warwick Corvette they had. I had noticed on the web they had 4 Wasburn T24s listed as used so I figured I would check them out also. The Corvette was nice but when I plugged in the T24 I was blown away ! Again, this mid priced bass is as good as anything I have ever played. They had taken these 4 basses in from overstock from another location, therefore they had to sell them as used eventhough they were brand new. I scored this for $252.86 including tax with a coupon. And a nice quality gig back that comes with it. A giveaway at that price. At $499.00 it is still a bargain for something this good. Buy One, you can't go wrong!
