Overview

The Washburn R314KK parlor guitar combines the quality and beauty of Washburn's vintage series guitars with surprising affordability. The guitar is built on the parlor platform for a rustic design in a small but powerful package. The guitar starts with a spruce top and Trembesi tonewood back and sides for impressive warm tone and unique beauty right out of the box. The mahogany V-neck offers ample dexterity when chording up and down the rosewood fingerboard. The Washburn R314KK parlor guitar comes out of the box looking and feeling like a well-worn old friend. The natural finish, beautiful rope purfling, and antique distressed veneer offers a pure vintage look, while the distinctive tone woods bring out all the sound you could ask for in this blues machine.

Following the tradition of instrument making from the late 1800s, Washburn's Vintage Series guitars have been skillfully "antiqued" to resemble over 100 years of wear. This lovingly recreated version of popular stringed instruments have all the benefits of modern technology with all the romance and passion of the bygone era.

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

Every time I pick up this guitar, I seem to find something wrong with the way it was built. I have found areas that are not finished or aged right and also have found scratches on the guitar were they sanded against the grain on the wood. There was not a lot of pride or effort put in when the guitar was built.

Second review

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

Been probably a year, or close to it, since I wrote my last review on this particular guitar, but felt it was time to do a follow up. Over the past few months I have had the pleasure of using several mid priced find guitars. Can't say I really dislike any of then having been able to try them first at a guitar center store. But I just keep coming back to this Washburn as my every day beater. It's a nice size, very comfortable to play, GREAT sound (nice and mellow) easy to play (like the string spacing, great for the twangy stuff (Duanne Eddy), just a great little guitar. I have no complaints what so ever. If I had any I would certainly say so. It may seem a little over priced, but keep in mind, your getting a nice hard case with it. I just might buy the solid top version, but not sure yet. This one is great and doesn't mind being beat around a bit (read that adult beverage friendly if you wish).

Nice guitar

from Killeen, TX

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I have to admit, I bought this guitar, maybe 9 months ago, on a whim, not really expecting too much other than something to play at parties. Over time this little fella has become my favorite guitar. It's just a sweet instrument. Very loud voice for it's size, nice mellow tone, easy to fret, and very forgiving. Just a wonderful little guitar. Comes with a very nice hard case too. I just kinda liked it when I first got it, but it is now my go to guitar. No, it's not a suitable instrument for large crowds, but for a few folks in the back yard, it's amazing. An added benefit is that a little beating around doesn't harm the looks of it. Adult beverage friendly, I guess. Just a great little guitar. Because of the size, very comfortable to play also. Love it.

My take on the R314KK

By Edward Olson

from Killeen, TX

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

Despite the previous review, wanting a parlor with a distressed retro look, I took a chance and ordered one. Since receiving it, I have been running it through it's paces, both finger style and with a pick (not really designed for one). It has been performing superbly. Action, out of the box, was fine. Easy to fret with no buzz. Washburn included an allen wrench for making minor adjustments, but found it unnecessary. Some things to be aware of if your planning on ordering one: It is a parlor guitar and not meant to have the voice of a dreadnought. It has a purposely distressed finish so don't expect a bright, shiny, smooth, flawless finish. It's going to look old and well used. It comes with a perfectly adequate, lockable, nice looking hard case. I've got a spare gig bag, so will probably use it in lieu of the hard case for most things.

Good guitar but...

By Mary Arbec

from Litchfield Park, AZ

Comments about Washburn R314KK Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

This is a cool guitar. What sucks is that I had to send back the 1st guitar becuase the nut was drilled to deep so the strings vibrate. The second guitar has the same problem, but different string. I just want a guitar that sounds good. This so far has not done the job.
