The Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar is handcrafted with a mahogany body and a select spruce top. Its Dreadnought body shape with spruce top produces full-bodied tone with excellent projection. The addition of a Fishman Bridge Pickup and Fishman Isys+ Preamp make the Washburn WCD18CE a great performer and value.

The "C" shape neck of the Washburn WG016S is comfortable and even feels good if you're used to an electric guitar. Other quality touches include a abalone rosette, wood binding, engraved "W" on the neck heel, sealed precision tuners, and "Washburn" inlayed on the headstock.

Fishman Pickup & Isys+ Preamp
The Fishman Pickup System that equips the Washburn WCD18CE has features that allow you to stay in tune, control feedback, and shape your sound. The control panel is easy to access and includes an onboard and easy-to-read Digital tuner. A phase switch helps reduce feedback while the volume, bass, and treble controls let you dial-in your sound for the room. A low battery indicator warns you ahead of time when it's time to swap batteries. Case sold separately.

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I play for my own satisfaction and with family and friends. This is a good starter guitar and even a good go-to guitar for the experienced player. The contouring and the thinner body in a cutaway dreadnaught is a nice plus for a medium or small player who feels a standard style dreadnaught is too large. It's doesn't have a solid top but the neck has a great feel and its sounds very good for a guitar of this price. Finish and craftsmanship was way better than I expected. I'd buy another and thinking about buying one for my godchild who is 14 and is looking for a dreadnaught that can fit her smaller stature.

Buzz Kill

By Marc

from DPO. AE

Pros

  • Feels Great
  • Looks great

Cons

  • E String Buzzes

Best Uses

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was excited to order this guitar. I have never owned a Washburn but always wanted one. I was choosing between the Washburn and a Yamaha. Yamaha has been my go to acoustic guitar. When I opened the box I was very excited. The Washburn looks great. Then I picked it up. It felt great. Then I played it. The first couple of cords were amazing. Then I heard it, a buzz when I played a G. So, I checked out every fret one at a time. The E string buzzes on the first three frets. I am bummed. So, now I have gone over the guitar very carefully and found that the provided 9 volt battery is dead. The strings are spotty and old looking. (I hope changing them will fix the buzz).

I am going to give it another chance and review after I change the strings.

However, I am not as happy as when I opened the box.

    Output Jack Problem

    By Jordan Watson

    from New York

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Now I wrote a review on this guitar 1 year ago and after 1 year I found a problem, The craftsmanship for the output jack is pretty bad. Now I never plug this guitar into an amp because I never really needed to, but after playing it on day I heard a rattle from the guitar. My pick was in my hand so it wasn't that. After investigating what it was I saw it was the output jack. I don't know if you can call it a loose jack since it's going all over the place. I just wished they took the time to make it so the jack wouldn't go everywhere if it ever got loose or just put the jack at the strap button.

    Amazing Body and Sound

    By Jordan Watson

    from NY

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My teacher didn't get to fixing my Fender Strat so I had to bring my super old acoustic guitar, but instead he gave me the WCD18CE and as soon as started to play I wanted it. the Body is nice and slim easy to play. The strings could get a little tweak (I noticed when I was tuning it)I'm hoping to pick it up looks like it's been there for a long time (I Don't Know why its a great guitar) anyone who is a intermediate player should pick one up

    Amazing

    By Richard Corson

    from South Florida

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Overall price combined with value and quality is truly amazing.
Just received the WCD18CE comfort series guitar today, and I am very pleased. The overall construction and quality of this guitar is unbelievable for the price. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, novice or pro.
The quality of this quitar is amazing. Just a few turns on the truss rod and it was perfect. I set it up my self in a matter of minutes.
The value of this guitar is worth twice the price that musicians friend is asking. I ordered it in april and recieved it the second week of June. I was very impatient and owe musicans friend an appology for that. But anyhow it was worth the wait. The on-board turner is a great feature and is very accurate.

Terrific guitar, incredible steal for the price

    By Anthony McNeill

    from Ottawa, Canada

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Absolutely love this guitar. It has become my daily player. Also own 1976 Ovation Balladeer, Epiphone, Yamaha. I mostly play the Washburn unplugged, but it sounds terrific when plugged in. The neck is great for fingerpicking styles and it is nicely radius'd and very comfortable. Great sound and nice projection. Nice full sound for a dreadnought.
My daughter grabs it as soon as she walks in to visit and she likes it better than my Ovation, which is saying something. She plays Taylor Swift, alternative rock, some indie rock and they all sound great on this guitar. I came back to buy another one of these guitars for her and decided to write this review.
Very well built guitar. Quality components and craftsmanship. Great pickup in the Fishman and it includes a built-in tuner. High quality nut and saddle like you would find in a much more expensive guitar.
Played great right out of the box. Didn't really need to be set up at all. Nice touches on the guitar. Looks great and every aspect is nicely done from the finish to the hardware.
Unbelievable value. Plays like an $800 guitar. Reminds me of a Taylor. Sound is excellent.

    Washburn

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

    .
This is a well built guitar for the money. Washburn should be highly considered if you are searching for a good elec/acoustic. with a solid spruce top and decent electronics, Washburn and Musicians Friend hit a home run with this Guitar.
Impressive finish all around, from top to bottom. Also very comfortable to play for extended time. Suggest adding this to your collection if you are a serious guitar player. Washburn is very impressive.

    Washburn wcd18ce

    By John Peace

    from Suffolk, Va.

Comments about Washburn Comfort Series WCD18CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My wcd18ce was delivered yesterday. I inspected the guitar and it looks very solid and clean. The varnish was perfect. It was almost in tune. Neck was great. Neck has a nice feel. I like the satin finish on the neck. I lowered the saddle 2/64 and it played wonderful. The comfort part is right on. They got it right. The matched spruce top and mahagony back and sides are beautiful. Plugged in is great. Sounds just as you expect it to. I would like for the controls to be a little larger.( volume, bass and tremble)Unplugged is a little dry due to the guitar being laminate. I can live with it. Still sounds very nice. You can't make a comfort guitar with solid spruce top. This I understand. Their is less maintenance to worry about with this guitar. Humidity and all. Guitar is not to heavy, feels right. I recommend this guitar. It is an entry level guitar and for the money you can't go wrong. It will last a life time. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is, it is like a woman, is their really any 10's. Their is always going to be something wrong in someone's view. The women that read this, well are their really any 10's in a man. Thank you Washburn and Guitar Center, I am pleased with this instrument and recommend it.
