I purchased this for my (now ex) wife for a christmas gift. It is a decent little banjo, and a bit smaller and lightweight than better$$ Banjos. Remember, for the price you need to get a pro to do a set up if you really want to learn on this banjo. I later bought the Rogue B-30 which is a little heavier and a little better quality if set up right. But both will work for a beginner. Here's the thing - the extras in this kit are crap. Save your money and get the Rogue instead. You'll be better off in the long run. Needless to say, I'm glad she took the Washburn and left me the Rogue.

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

It was missing the instructional book, which I needed. A suggestion was to send the whole thing back to Washburn. Overkill. After looking up some lessons online, it's a lot of fun learning the banjo.

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

I bought this as a "condition 4, AS IS" deal very cheap. It only needed small repairs and set up. An excellent deal for me, a repairman. If you were going to pay the normal price, then the Epiphone is a much better banjo for only a little more.

not really a "kit" , be warned

By JANICE GLENN

from Pasadena, Texas

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

Banjo is fine, but don't expect a KIT! Mine was missing one strap hook and the instruction book. One note in the pitch pipe didn't work. Three flimsy plastic picks, no metal. Strap is not a banjo strap, but the cheapest kind of guitar strap there is, too uncomfortable to use. So, after BUYING a strap, picks, electric tuner, and instruction book, I now have a starter kit! To get the missing/broken parts replaced I would have had to return the whole thing, wait on a new one to re-ship, and hope I didn't have same problems. I just stuck with this, removed all the "Made in China" stickers, and am now loving playing my new banjo! The guys at GC were very nice, but I wish they had thrown in a complimentary banjo strap for my troubles.

Banjo Pack

By Dan Stech

from Montville , Ohio

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

I really enjoy the package, i have managed to learn a song and the banjo is a great starter kit. I took
the banjo to get it tuned that went well. I was unsure how the strap went on and when i got to the music shop the guy told me it would not work because it is a guitar strap. Please if you can put Banjo straps in the kits. Other than that it is awesome for us beginners.

not bad for the price

By Sean Olsen

from New York

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

now, I've had this banjo for a couple of years now. I've read the other reviews, and maybe I just got lucky. It shipped fine, and the only part that "malfunctioned" was the piece that held the upper part of the strap on the banjo. It kind of just fell off. Apart from that, its not bad. It looks pretty good, if you take care of it,and the the only other problem Ive had with it was the fifth tuning peg, but I got that fixed for less than 20 dollars (and had it re-stringed) I mean, if you want a beginner banjo just to help you learn, this might be not a bad choice. If youre looking to get serious after that, then maybe put in a little more cash and just get a nice quality banjo to learn and last a long time. I know I'll be getting a new one soon too.

Worst Buy Ever!!!

Comments about Washburn B8 Banjo Pack:

Garbage, I wouldn't even use it as firewood.
it took me 3 months to recieve it and when i did the neck was cracked.
The banjo sound didn't change when changing fret's. DO NOT BUY BANJO'S OFF THIS SITE!!!
I've been playing guitar for 10 years i've never had such bad customer service.
