i just bought this guitar yesterday and it is great skinny neck so you can change chords real quick and it sounds beautiful, for the money that i paid for it, it is worth every penny, the electric is great to so if you are in a band and don't want to pay to much for a really nice guitar, go with this guitar you WILL NOT REGRET IT
I had been wanting to buy a new guitar for months. I have not been playing for very long but the guitar I had been using is decades old and I thought I would benefit from having a well-built guitar that also sounded nice and was easy to play. I have read dozens of reviews on the Yamaha FG700S and played it a few times and was going to go with it, but I planned on upgrading it immediately with a bone saddle and pins. But upon seeing this guitar I did some homework and found that this one rivals the Yamaha AND comes stock with a bone saddle AND is cheaper if you go with the Factory Restock option. So based on Guitar Center's 30 day return policy thats what I did and I am happy. As far as the quality it is great for the money. Mine needed some adjustment out of the box (ridiculous buzzing from the first fret) but I messed around with the truss rod and fixed it myself. It really projects sound nicely, has great resonance, good action, and I haven't even had it set up by a professional. I don't know what the Yamaha FG700s would sound like with a bone saddle but when comparing sound quality without upgrades this Washburn takes it. I wouldn't shy away from the Restock option either but that's just me. Its a great bang for the buck and a solid guitar.
I was debating between buying this and the Yamaha FG700s and after trying out the Yamaha and disliking it, I decided to order this one. I think I made the right choice. The yamaha was lacking in the higher and bass ranges but the Washburn has them covered. Both of the instruments are made in China. A solid spruce top for under $200 is a steal and definitely makes a difference in the clarity of the tone. Notes are crisper and this thing resonates forever! The only thing that might bother some people is that the action is pretty low from the factory. I mean I'm getting fret buzz when I play some basic open chords, but that is an easily fixed problem by the Luthier. I didn't know much about Washburn, but now I think I'm hooked. This is the way to go. It is my first guitar (I'm a violinist) and I wanted it to play some country, finger picking style, and jazz music. It's great. The neck is pretty thin (for easy playing) and the satin finish let's my hand move fast up and down the neck. The body is a gloss finish and there is no pickguard, so those might be 2 things you think about when getting the instrument. Oh, and there aren't two shoulder strap pegs, only one on the bottom, so if you buy a strap, make sure it's one that you can tie to the head at one end (if not, that's easily remedied with a shoelace.) It also does not come with a case, so definitely pick one up for it. I called at least 30 music stores across America and asked different peoples' opinions on which one to buy out of the two I was considering and the majority said Washburn. They were right. Well done, Washburn.
