Washburn R320SWRK Vintage Series Parlor Acoustic Guitar (H96897)
Availability:

Solidly constructed recreation of early Washburn model with modern appointments.

The Vintage Series recreates or resembles some of the great Washburn instruments that were crafted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Included are parlor-sized models like the R320SWRK. In order to create the "vibe" of a 100-year old instrument that has been well-played but not abused, Washburn has added a vintage finish and distressed hardware. Because this guitar is built using modern techniques and materials, the resulting instrument is more durable, and in many cases, better sounding than its century-old counterpart.

The R320SWRK Vintage Series Parlor Guitar features a solid spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides with quatersawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing. The V-neck is mahogany with an 18-fret ebony fingerboard featuring Tree of Life inlays. Other appointments include a 45mm bone nut, distressed open gear tuners, and D'Addario strings. A case is included.

  • I like it!

As reviewed by Albert Hitchcock on 4/24/2014

I am so pleased with this little guitar. It looks good - a classic, vintage look - and it sounds good. I had read about problems with defects in the workmanship, but I have found none. I actually was attracted to this guitar because of its wide neck (I normally play a classical guitar). I am very pleased with that feature. Though the nut is slightly narrower than my classical, from E string to E string, there is only 1mm difference, and down at the bridge, this Washburn is actually 3mm WIDER than my classical -- great for finger-picking. One more thing: Guitar Center absolutely matched a lower internet price I had found advertised. I am delighted with this whole transaction, and the guitar I ended up with.

  • Bluesy sounding historic replica

As reviewed by steve on 1/17/2015

I love this little guitar! I had tried one of the lower priced Washburn parlors at a Guitar Center store and liked it pretty well, though I also had my eye on a small Taylor, which had the typical Taylor silky smooth tone. But I really wanted a more rustic, bluesy sound. I have a gorgeous sounding Gibson Nouveau dreadnaught already, and I wasn't really looking for gorgeous. I wanted something a bit rootsier. The Washburn parlor I had sampled sounded possibly a little thin, but it's always hard to tell in a noisy guitar shop, so I just rolled the dice and ordered the more expensive R320. It arrived strung and fully set up with great intonation and action. Out of the box, I was in guitar heaven. The wider v neck is comfortable to play and so easy to chord without any buzzing. It has great projection, amazing volume for the size, and sounds like real wood. It's great for finger picking, which is my preferred technique, and easily responds to percussive thumb thumps and light string snaps. It's clean, warm, folksy, bluesy and just great fun to play. It has become my go to guitar, partly because it is light, easy to reach for, and just loads of fun. As soon as I set it down, it's not long before I pick it back up again. After years of playing a plain looking dreadnaught and an even more spartan looking Big Muddy mandolin, the antique bling on the R320 seemed intimidating at first, but I quickly adjusted and love being seen with it and taking pictures of it. It takes me back to the belle epoch of parlor guitars. No regrets!
