Awesome piece. I was searching for a five string after playing a Mexican Fender four string for two years. I found this on closeout at a Guitar Center(GC)in MI and it was a steal! I was a little nervous becuase I am a Fender man. The first time that I played it, I was a changed man. The Warwick FNA Jazzman 5 String Bass is beautiful and very playable. The electronics allow you to play any sound you can dream of. Go to your local GC and find one on sale. Great, great bass.
After Buying a 4 string fretless Corvette, hotrodding it, and loving everything about it I bought one of these things. I wanted something with a lower capability tham usual as well as more tonal possibilities. This bass is incredibly well made plus with the active electronics, I just couldn't be happier with everything it can do. If I need another bass (I'll say it again) I won't even look at another brand.
This bass is made by German robots. It is a production bass, but you'll be hard pressed to get a custom bass with this kind of capability. The string adjustments at the nut and bridge make this the easiest bass to slap and play. The solid assembly lets it ring and generate harmonics that are hard to describe. I play through a 2x10/1x15 madison stack with 2 house 3x18s subs and a BBE processor. I get solid, crisp bass and with the low B string, it is just awesome. The active electronics and pan between the jass pickup and the hummbucker make it a superior tool for any style of music.
I truly have mixed feelings in regards to this jazzman. The neck and feel of the entire bass is perfect. I play with a very low action and I do not get annoying fret buzz. Tone is amazing. Nice growl yet still jazzy at the same time. I own other bass guitars (Fender, musicman, Tobias, Carvin, yamaha). The FNA neck feel is the best and tone is the best. However one HUGE problem. My batteries get drained every month. All my other 8 active basses batteries last for up to 4 months. This could have been my primary bass for gigs but I get too annoyed to bring it because it may fail me in the middle of a gig. I have tried my best to contact Warwick but they never responded. i also have another friend who owns the same bass and he feels the same way. Nice quality bass but drains batteries. We both tried everything such as unplugging the cables when not in use and putting setting in to passive but still drains. In conclusion I would say, such a great quality bass but Warwick has to fix their 1 issue. Also i was hoping Warwick improve on their reponse to loyal customers. Don't get me wrong on this review, I recommend the bass but be prepared to buy a lot of batteries.
