One of the best

I've owned my '03 Thumb for over a year and it's still in perfect cond. It took about a week to get used to the long neck but the tone was worth it. This bass may not be for everyone because of the weight but value-wise every part of this bass is high quality. The signature tone is one of a kind. It growls harder than even the other Warwicks and absoloutely sings in the upper register. Clearly this bass was made for funk and metal but a versatile amp combined with tweaking the onboard 3 band eq can dial in smooth R&b goodness. This bass has good output and is touch sensitive so it's great for tapping. The slap tone has a liquid midrangy bottom and the pops are very crisp and can be harsh if you crank the treble. Warwick stands behind thier products with great support and a forum for advise and questions and often gives free replacement parts like nuts. No regrets, I love this bass!

Gotta Have It

After playing a '79 Rick and an '82 Westone for years, I decided to get a new bass. I test drove many high end instruments (Pedulla, Spector, Fender, Modulus, Dingwall, PRS, Smith), but I always kept coming back to the Warwick. You can dial in a multitude of sounds. Has a really nice bite with bridge pickup full on. Great for slap/funk. Solo the neck pickup and you'll get chest rattling lows. This thing has sustain for days. It took a little bit getting used to the chunkier neck. Super-easy to adjust bridge for setting intonation. This is my main axe now.

Thumbs Down

Save your money. These are over rated and way overpriced. I got one with defective electronics, sent it back, came back the same way, they gave me another one, then the adjustable nut snapped off and 6 weeks later I'm still waiting for the replacement JAN3 that they're supposed to have out. Your sound is limited because this bass has a signiture tone that is not very versitile. These are the low end of the high end basses. Look around and play lots of different basses in the store before buying this one.
