It's beautifully made and has that characteristic low growl for which Warwicks are famous. As with all Warwicks, it features premium tonewoods throughout: a bubinga body and 3-piece ovangkol neck with wenge fingerboard. This is a passive bass with a traditional tone and incredible punch. Fitted with MEC J/J pickups, MEC passive electronics, and chrome hardware.

sooooo happy!

I just bought this bass about a month ago. I played a Ricky bass for about 13 years before it was stolen, and always wanted a fretless. When I tried the Warwick in the store, I fell in love with it immediately, at that was just due to its playability. Once I heard the lows and sustains (I play Blues and Rock predominantly) I was sold. This bass is an awesome fretless. It IS a low-ender, you have to play around with the bass and the rig to get highs if you like high end sounds. The Warwick company takes care of you very well and rewards you for spending the extra money on a quality instrument. If you're scared about the gig bag, don't be. Warwick's bags are better than most hardshell cases. If you worry about the weight, it IS evenly distributed ... and for god's sake you're a bass player! MAN UP!

Soulful. Musical. Expressive.

Anyone familiar with the Warwick name knows of their legendary looks, tone, and amazing build quality. Even though the Corvette Bass is the lowest priced European-made Warwick in the current lineup, nothing is compromised here. Beautifully grained Bubinga body, 3-piece Ovankol neck, and an Ebony fingerboard. Harware is top notch, controls are smooth and simple to use, and those making the transition to fretless bass will be greatly rewarded with this instrument. I bought the passive model because a fretless bass is all about expression; I wanted to hear the wood instead of the electronics. So many great and useable sounds are available here, and I get compliments and envy stares on each gig I take it to. The Warwick's versatility surprises me to this day. You wouldn't think that a fretless bass could be called a "utility" bass, but that's exactly what it has proven itself to be for me. I have played Acoustic, Eastern, Ethereal, Hard Rock, Blues, Country, Latin, and even Metal with my Corvette Bass. It shines in virtually every situation. One thing that everyone should consider about this bass: It will sound VERY different in different hands.. To a much larger degree than anything with frets. It will give you what you put into it, and learning to express yourself and be creative will make this bass sound like a million dollars.

UNBELIEVABLE

This bass blew me away. I sat down at a Guitar Center one day and decided to try something fretless, and as soon as I picked up the fretless Corvette, I fell in love with it. I almost cried when I realized I picked a Schecter Stiletto Studio-5 over this beauty. I guess it was just out of my price range at the time. I did like the fact that it had no indication of the frets on the fingerboard short of the dots, unlike the Fender fretless basses.

Warwick fretless: the best tone ever

Iv'e played the streamer w/ active pickups and thought it to be musical but the bottom end tonal characteristics were a little too much for me. Moreover, no main volume and a lot of pan dials were way too confusing. The Vette is simple in design and has the most pure, musical sound I've ever heard. I came from a classical background and the thing about classical guitars is that the more you spend, as much as $85,000, the better the tone & clarity gets. With the Vette if you really get into your sense of musical expresion and make a link between this sense and ones tactile touch abilities, it feels like any musician could actually reinvent the fretless bass musical idiom and take over the world, or something like that. The growl on the bottom end and the clarity and warm vocal like dolce sound when plucked closer to the neck or sul tasto on the the neck is the most beautiful musical sound I have ever experienced. I would purchase as many of these passive instruments as possible. A true marvel of the 21 st Century!

Amazing Jazz Bass

This bass has certainly improved my playing. Afraid at first to step up to a fretless bass, i reluctantly sat down for an hour or two playing on this beautiful bass guitar. Not only does it look like a dream, it plays like one too. After a few days, i was walking all over the fingerboard, and have been using it in my jazz ensemble. The nice full jazz sound has certainly improved the sound of our group. It has an amazing growl to it. The only negative is the bass is a little top heavy. Other then that, I would fully and completely recommend this bass guitar for any bass player. Helps fretted players gain a little more comfort around the fretboard, i would say.
