Great woods and innovative electronics.

The Warwick Corvette $$ Double Buck is a 5-String bass guitar that is similar to the other Corvette models, but distinguishes itself with unique electronics. It features 2 powerful MEC humbuckers nestled closely in the center position, completely covering the legendary sweet spot that so many basses miss completely. This configuration gives it a powerful, solid tone with depth and clarity. 2 mini 3-way switches let you choose humbucker, single-coil, and parallel or series operation. The passive pickups are matched to an MEC 2-band active preamp, making it a true passive/active hybrid. The Corvette $$ Double Buck features a select swamp ash body, an ovangkol neck, bell brass frets, high-quality hardware, and natural or transparent color oil finishes.

  • This Warwick RULEZ!

As reviewed by maddrakkett on 4/10/2007

Incredible, versatile crafted quality bass at a great price. Lots of tone options due to two massive MusicMan style pickups in the "sweet spot" area of the body, three-way switches for series and parallel humbucking modes, as well as single-coil tap, two-way active EQ with passive bypass by pulling up on the volume pot switch (dead batteries won't kill your ability to continue playing!). The feel is as incredible as the looks! Great for slapping and popping, easier to play than most, has that classic Warwick growl for hard rock styles, yet snappy for those R&B and funk gigs. Love the easy no-screwdriver access to the truss rod and electronics/battery cavity and the fully adjustable bridge (even string-spacing is adjustable) as well as the nut (set your strings to any height you like along the full length without removing or loosening your strings). The only adjustment I made was to lower the pickups a little to keep strings from slapping against the pole pieces and to remove some of the hot gain they put out. I cannot believe how amazing this bass is verses the competition in every area and yet thousands less than other exotic wood/custom electronics offerings. Mine is an '07 in Nirvana Black that GC only had for 2 days and they sold it for only $1350 with RockBag (list is $2000 and most places sell for $1600!) - GC rocks the competition on price for Warwicks (I also got a Corvette Standard 4-string fretless for $800) and Warwick rocks the competition for quality basses!

  • Decent Gear with awesome versatile sound

As reviewed by Clemens on 5/17/2010

That piece of wood is really fantastic. After some nice 4-string corvette rockbass and awesome 5-string Corvette Bubinga I ended up with the Corvette $$ 5-string. The playability of all Warwicks I know is great. I just needed to find the right sound. The $$ give me the power/strength and the versatility I need. The ability to steer the pickups serial/parallel separately give you all you need to find what you need. For some harder rock I love that Humbucker sound. Whereas, for smoother stuff I would go for my Warwick Corvette Std Bubinga which has a great warm, softer tone.

  • What a Bass!!!!

As reviewed by Bassman_USAF on 8/15/2009

Wow: I put my hands on this thing and wasn't leaving the store without it. The electronics in this thing by itself are so versital that I would recommend it to anybody playing any genre of music. It has to be the Swiss Army Knife of basses. As soon as you plug it in, you can set the 3-band EQ flat, find the sound you want with the selector switched, and your going to know where every dime went. I have the Nirvana Black Model. The Ovangkol neck is beefy but not clumbsy. The Bell Brass fretts give the strings a brighter ring to the sound that I wasn't uses, but was a refreshing surprise. The contruction is rock solid with great sustain. Bottom line: this is what would happen if you could put 4-wheel drive on bass!
