Overview

One of the forerunners of the fusion genre is Tom Quayle. Tom is the UK's finest and most in demand exponent of modern fusion.

When Wampler first met Tom in early 2012, he was already using the Euphoria and Paisley Drive stacked together to give him the tones he required. But something wasn't quite right; those pedals are voiced for other genres of music altogether so Wampler set about honing the tones to match his style of playing. He needed more transparency, a tighter and controlled response on the bass end and when stacked up they needed to sound and feel like an amp running at high levels and give each string complete clarity and response.

Over a year later, comes the Dual Fusion. With two independent circuits that are based on but completely modified from the Euphoria and Paisley Drive, Tom finally has a tone that can be used when he is in full flow as a musician.

The Dual Fusion is the first pedal to be specifically voiced for the fastest growing breed of musicians around. It has some of the most versatile stacking/signal path options available on an analog pedal.

Wampler Dual Fusion

By bernard meiterman

from Manalapan, New Jersey

I am not typically a pedal guy when it comes to distortion and prefer to run tube amps with the Master way up to get head room. Much to my surprise this pedal accomplishes a lot of what I try to get my amp to do. The ability to switch the signal path is a cool idea but I prefer to run from side A through side B. Side A is more of a booster that creates that head room that all good tube amps impart. Side B is the shred side. Both sides have gain control so you can easily overdrive either or both sides, but that is not the point of the pedal to me. I leave Side A on all the time and use B as my shred setting. The tone is warm and full and allows me to bring a Fender Twin to places that my Marshall and Carvin Legacy get. If you have a good clean amp, this pedal will save you the money of buying a shredder. I have vintage pedals that I used to love until I got this pedal. Now my other distortion boxes are for sale since they really are only that..... distortion boxes. This pedal is amazing. My only complaint is that Tom Quayle plays single coils so this pedal is engineered for the lower output an with really high output buckers, it is a little harsh. If I had my druthers, I wished the pedal had a switch for the type of pickup with a buffer to attenuate the heat from high output humbuckers. The pedal is amazing for what it is engineered to do and I recently ran it straight into a solid state set-up at a gig to see how it would fair and was more surprised. Side A also acts as an amazing booster that can impart a tube like tone and boosts every part of the signal..... sometimes a little bass heavy, but you can adjust that out also. Lots of controls and all around a great accomplishment that leaves most other pedals in the dust. If you play with single coil pickups in particular, its a no brainer.
