Sometimes you need extreme gain. Sometimes you need mild overdrive. The Pinnacle Standard Distortion does that with an awesome "Brown Sound"! It has an extremely tweakable EQ - from scooped mids to tons of warm mids, all with the turn of two knobs.

This pedal has four knobs--two separate tone controls that act as a sort of parametric EQ, gain and volume. It also has a 'bright' switch that adds a ton of variety and is very handy when playing a dark sounding amp, as well as another toggle switch that will give you high gain "Brown Sound" tones through its Gain Boost.

  • High grade film capacitors and resistors picked for their superior sound and response
  • Completely true bypass

The best so far, but......

By

from Ohio USA

Comments about Wampler Pinnacle Standard Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Before I go on about the pinnacle I must say I purchased the Wampler Sovereign first and my reference will be biased due to consideration of that pedal. The pinnacle sounds good anywhere you set the dials, the hard part of owning this pedal is trying to decide how you want it to sound. It's got the brown sound, the plexi sound, the overdrive sound, the distortion sound, the Marshall sound, the hiwatt sound, and on and on. This pedal shines because it's got that tube CHUG, and that tube warmth and saturation we all desire. As far as gain is concern, there is more than you wil ever need, which brings me to the "but...." In my review title. The boost switch is unnecessary, because it adds NOISE, HISS, and HUM. This is the reason for 4 stars. In reference to the sovereign, there is less noise on the boost switch of that pedal than that of the pinnacle. Both pedals are great and have boat loads of gain without the boost on. I know this is not a review of the sovereign but it is related to the pinnacle in my world so I will bring this up. Some say the sovereign picks up where the pinnacle leaves off...NOT TRUE, its not even the other way around, they are completely different pedals with different capabilities and sounds. Some say these pedals are noise free...NOT TRUE, when used realistically as far as gain, you can get some radical distortion out if both units with very little noise but the boost section of the pedals are subject to the real world, you can't have your cake and shred it too. If you are going to shred at mega high gain, get a gate pedal. If you used a battery in the pedal and a battery powered amp in a room with no other electrical devices miles away from any interference, these boost noise issue would be minimalized. I know this because I live in the middle of the corn belt of ohio and can try it that way. Still this pedal is amazing and a keeper, it will work great for all you van halen and 80s geeks.

Outstanding Box

Comments about Wampler Pinnacle Standard Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal was great right out of the box. There are so many sounds built into this box just with a small turn of any of the knobs. Very warm distortion regardless of gain or contour. Impressive. I liked it so much I upgraded to the deluxe so I could have the boost option stompable. My rig is a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp and an upgraded Strat with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the bridge.

Best Distortion at "0" noise level!!

By

from Los Angeles

Comments about Wampler Pinnacle Standard Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Stop yer high gain "G.A.Sing" with this pedal! Got this pedal at GC and it is addictive. This is the pedal that has left and come back to my pedal board when all the others have gone. What I like about this pedal is that is has high end gain sizzle (not fizzle) without losing the low end tightness. I like using the this pedal with all knobs at noon. This is the only pedal I have found that is great for solo leads as well as just chording. Its Eddie in a box (if you know what I mean) and that's the Blues"D" opinion. You can trust Brian W. He is a tone fanatic (even more than me) Use this pedal if your playing Halen tunes.
