A versatile and compact overdrive that delivers smooth creaminess with just enough crunch.

When the guys at Wampler created the circuit that would eventually become the Euphoria, they were working on creating a pedal that would go from clean tones to distorted tones while adding a bit of warmth. They wanted something that would be dynamic, have a great sounding "gritty" tone to it yet be able to respond to the volume knob like a tube amp.

The Euphoria is Wampler's take on that elusive tone and feel made famous by Dumble Amplifiers - smooth creaminess yet crunchy when you need it to be, yet the tonality is much more transparent than other "dumble sounding" pedals. Very responsive tone controls that interact with the pedal - they don't just "color" the sound. The controls actually affect the response and feel of the pedal, just like a great tube amp.

If you love the sound of your clean tone, and just wish you could have more "hair" on the note... a little bit of grit without any change in tonality, the Euphoria will do that with ease. PLUS it's extremely flexible... with the toggle switch in the down position you'll get a hint of fuzz along with the overdrive, it's reminiscent of the tones that "Eric Johnson" may use. With the toggle in the up position the tonality is super smooth, creamy yet crunchy when you dig into the strings.

This is reminiscent to the famous "Dumble" tone, though it's really much, much more than that. In the center position, the toggle will give you tons of crunch, or roll the gain back a bit and push the volume up and you have a superior clean boost with a 2 band EQ that's extremely transparent, but variable so you can actually turn it into an awesome treble booster just by cranking up the treble and turning the bass down.

  • Most versatile overdrive ever.

As reviewed by marvin mealer on 10/7/2013

This is the best overdrive I have ever used. There are three different voicings (smooth, open, & crunch) which basically give you three different overdrives. This low-mid gain OD is very transparent and does indeed give you that Dumble-like tone. Brian Wampler as th amp in a box concept down pat. The eq settings are very usable and the pedal works well with clean bright amps like my DRRI. It takes single coils and humbuckers equally well, and I have not been able to dial in a bad tone yet. The construction is rugged and layout well thought out. I cannot see myself parting with this overdrive ever. I can't wait ti save up enough to stack it with a Plexi Drive or a Paisley Drive.

  • Best Overdrive Pedal - Transparency

As reviewed by David on 10/4/2014

I have been playing electric guitar since you had to turn your amp on 10 to get that distorted sound and in the studio back in those days, when I had to put blankets over the amp so the ear shattering distortion wouldn't spoil the rest of the studio tracks. I went from the Fuzz Face in the sixties to all manner of pedals since. By far the Euphoria pedal is the best overdrive pedal I have ever owned or heard, the closest being the Blackstar HT-Dual, in my opinion. Transparency is the beauty of this pedal. Transparency is when anything you plug into prior to the input of your amplifier, like pedals, do not alter or change the tone of the amp unless by choice. You can tell by plugging directly into your amp, listening and then through your pedals bypassed. If you hear no difference in tone coloration, that's transparency. I have discarded many pedals because of this very thing; I want my amp to shine along with my effects pedal, not altered without choice. I've even had Volume pedals that changed the tone of my amp. Now to the Euphoria: It is hard to put into words the amazing sounds and tones from this pedal. The variety of distortion tones available makes it hard to believe that all of this comes out of this one pedal, all the while maintaining the integrity of your amp's tone. The previous reviews do a nice job of explaining in a little more detail about this pedal. I don't care which one of my amps I use with this pedal, I am thrilled with the resulting sound each and every time. Too often we plug in a new piece of gear, play a few chords or leads, and then put it back on the shelf or take it back, thinking it not worthy of our time. But this pedal has so many variables that you need to give it some time to explore and you will discover a new sound horizon awaiting you each and every time you hook up your guitar. Major thumbs up on Brian Wampler's masterpiece, the Euphoria Overdrive pedal. It takes a good musician like Brian to understand what great tone is all about. A must have pedal.

  • Exactly what I hoped to hear

As reviewed by STEVE CARTWRIGHT on 1/29/2014

I leave this on in front of my Deluxe Reverb all the time. It's completely transparent in that it makes the amp sound better at lower volumes as if the volume was turned up higher. It's adds thickness to the sound without changing the tone - or sounding fuzzy or fizzy. Or course you can also always crank up the gain or adjust the tone if you want, too.
