The Vox amPlug AC30 is a headphone amp that can help you to create the perfect practice session. The tiny amPlug plugs directly into your guitar--then just plug in your headphones and relish some great Vox tone.
Jamming late at night? Don't want to wake the neighbors? Maybe you want to work out a lick with your MP3 player without taking the time to set up your amp. You want to play guitar right now. amPlug is the answer. Simply plug this palm-sized headphone guitar amp directly into your guitar, and enjoy serious guitar sound anywhere, anytime.
Even with its ultra-compact size, amPlug perfectly reproduces the complex and warm distortion that is distinctive of a vacuum tube, as well as the powerful high gain produced by a large amp stack. Using analog modeling technology, the Vox amPlug delivers full-fledged amp sound.
Even the circuit response of the original amp is simulated completely. The simulation extends not only to the response of the tone circuits, but also to the way in which the high frequency and gain are affected when you turn down the volume control of the guitar. Every detail has been faithfully reproduced.
amPlug can be used in numerous ways. With up to fifteen hours of battery life, it's easy to take amPlug anywhere. In addition to practicing at home, it's a great way to warm up before a live performance or on the road. And amPlug is not just a convenient way to get great guitar sound. There's also an AUX input jack so you can jam along with your CD/MP3 player.
AC30 emulates the AC30 top boost sound of a vintage VOX AC30, and uses two natural-sounding gain stages to reproduce the distinctive AC30 tone.
Also available in Classic Rock, based on a UK-made amplifier head, and Metal, based on a California-made high-gain amplifier head.

I bought this because I have a wife and baby son, but I made sure to try it out first because I'm a toniophile. It's hard not to be a skeptic when you're staring at a tiny plastic AC30 - but Plug that bad boy in ... it's a SONIC TREAT! For starters, the gain & tone controls actually WORK, which is more than you can say for some mass-market combo amps. Also, it really, truly sounds like an AC30. Through the right headphones, it has a clear, fat, jammy fun sound. Husbands/dads: start making excuses to get out and buy this now. I guarantee this amp will QUADRUPLE your playing time.

I bought this after reading the raving reviews. The concept is brilliant and I had assumed that this little wonder would mean I could practice anytime without disturbing anyone else. However, I found that the output level is too low with the gain turned down and it sounds like an amp with torn speaker when it's turned up to a usable sound level. Overall I do like the concept but the AC30 has limited use. I recommend that you ask the shop or try one out before buying.

I bought this to learn how to play. Along with a Squier Bullet HH Strat, and AKG K44 headphones. Plugged into my headphones it lacks that luster and feel that I was expecting, NOT the amp's fault though. Plugged into my car stereo's 3.5mm jack, it ROCKS. This thing has some decent clean tones, as well as a great crunchy British tone with the gain rolled up. My only quark with it is the dials, I can't read the numbers. They are not too small, there just is not enough of it showing to read the numbers. Numbers aside though, the thing sounds great for 40 bucks. Great for a learning guitarist that isn't ready to showcase their talent yet.
This is the second plug in mini amp that I've owned. As with the other brand, I find the hiss through the headphones beyond annoying. The concept is excellent, the clean isn't bad, the gain is barely ok and it hisses through every setting. It got returned.
This does not produce a nice clean sound at low gains and high gains the overdrive is does not have pleasing dynamics. Perhaps it is the lack of any other effect. I know it is just a headphone amp but in contrast to the Joe Satriani Amplug this is very disappointing.
For $30, this is an Awesome product! Can use with your headphones or (in my case) your Jambox. Good sound, with adequate adjustments.
Works great. I was surprised.
Bought this on a whim, actually. Had a $20 e-certificate, started looking around at some accessories, decided to look at headphone amps. I have always wanted a Vox AC30, but life just never let that happen. So I stumbled across the AC30 Amplug, and the reviews were so good. I double-checked the reviews at another website, and they were equally full of praise. Still, I had a hard time believing this was going to be more than a "toy". Boy, was I wrong. As soon as I got home, I ripped the box open, stuck the Amplug in my Rickenbacker 450, plugged in my vintage Pioneer cans...and I had an AC30! That signature chime is there! Cranked the gain up, and had an incredibly authentic AC30 buzz. Think the Beatles' "Revolution". This has to be too good to be true, right? So I plug in to a set of powered PC speakers I bought for my iRig. Backed the gain down, started playing a little Tom Petty, and the sound was spot on! My wife, not a player or techie at all heard it, and said "That sounds like the CD". Not only is this a sweet REAL SOUNDING headphone amp, the ability to run the line out to just about anything...I could see gigging with this. Not jumping around all over the stage gigging, but it could be done. You can't beat this for the price.
I got the Classic Rock for Christmas. The sound and quality, also the convenience of the Amplug is great. My wife used to complain about the guitar noise, now I can practice all night long. My son liked the Amlug, so I bought him the AC30. Since I don't know about amps, he says it sounds just like his Vox AC30 and now his wife doesn't complain about his practicing, but he tells me that now he can't put his guitar down.
I don't often write product reviews - but I gotta tell you - this gadget is a must for every player's toolbox! I don't care if you have a recording studio in the basement - you can practice or play anywhere. The sound is clean and has less noise than most small practice amps! Forget about trying to get distortion or overdriving the device - keep it clean and don't blow out your ears like I did with years of headphone use! Tinnitus is a drag! A side benefit is you can get up and move around without tethers - no need to get all unstrapped just cause you gotta go boy's room - simply play as you go! haha! Seriously, this is so cool I think every guitar should come with one! Can't wait an affordable bluetooth device that works just as well!
This does exactly what it promises. It works with headphones and delivers a good sound. Great for practicing and easy to get started without a lot of hassle. It doesn't offer much in the way of tone control and I would never use it for recording. Summary: A good product at a fair price.
My favorite amp is the Vox AC30, that being said the real deal AC30 amp is very expensive. I bought this for my headphones and WOW....nice sound. So I started to experiment a little and have found that at the end of a pedal chain I can run my tube screamer, chorus or delay effect right through it just like a much larger amp. I then use a male to male line out to my Roland Cube 30 monitor and wha la inexpensive AC30 amp! Awesome!!
