Overview

The VOX Valvetronix VT50 is a 50W combo amp that gives you 22 amp models ranging from the latest high-gain types to hard-to-find boutique and vintage amps. The VOX VT50 amplifier also boasts a full complement of effects, allowing it to cover the needs of a wide variety of styles and performance techniques. The VOX Valvetronix includes 66 preset programs, including 22 song programs that simulate the guitar sounds of famous guitarists. Even beginning players can enjoy serious guitar sound right away.

The VOX Valve Reactor circuit is the key factor that separates Valvetronix amplifiers from other modeling amps. The 100% analog original power amp circuit actually has the same power amp circuit as a full-tube amp, using a 12AX7 miniature triode to reproduce a distinctive tube amp sound unattainable by digital technology. In other words, it replicates aspects that have an important influence on the sound of a tube amp, such as the power amp's class A/AB operation and the interaction of the power stage with the speaker. You get not only the response of the original amp's power amp circuitry, but also the power amp's distortion as well as the nuances and subjective sound pressure of a full-tube amp.

Features
  • 50W combo amp
  • VOX Valve Reactor circuit uses a 12AX7 to produce real tube power amp sound
  • 22 realistic amp models are built in, ranging from the latest high-gain types to unobtainable legendary boutique amps and vintage amps
  • 12 high-quality effects including independent reverb, rivaling the quality of dedicated units
  • 3 banks (basic, effected, and song) are provided for each amp model, giving you a total of 66 preset programs
  • 22 programs of "song presets" simulate the sounds of famous guitarists
  • You can save 8 of your own edited programs
  • Power level control allows you to adjust the output wattage of the power amp, so you can obtain that distinctive power amp distortion even at low output levels

Well after a month or more in researching and playing other amps in this catagory, I purchased this amp.It comes so much closer to the sound I want, and until I have the money saved for an all tube amp, this amp will hold me over. It's sound is so much fuller and warmer, than the other amps of it's style, and plus the price is another great contribute to me buying it.If you do not have the money for an all tube amp and want something that will keep your "gear beast" at bay for awhile, I highly recommend trying and buying one of these.Everyone has different tastes in their seemingly endless pursuit of tone,I will not tell you this is the end of that pursuit, but it is a welcomed sound to my ears that will give me that "tone" I like, for awhile.Go play on one you'll see what I'm talking about. Good job Vox!

This is a very nice amp. Pretty good at modeling all the classic amps. The Boutique distorted and 70's British are the only two settings that I think is weak. You can really dial in some awesome Vox tones. Fender Clean is also well represented. The only issue I have with this amp is the Input Jack Washer will not stay tight. You can't tighten it without taking the entire back off. The first time it was pretty cool just to see the inside of the Amp. The 2,3,4,5,6 . . .etc not as much fun. I know the fix is just to go get a better washer - but I haven't and it's just kind of a pain in the neck. All that being said I would buy this again in a second

A lot to love and learn.

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

The tones you can conjure out of this thing are amazing. Really rich, complex and warm. I find it difficult to get a bad sound out of it. And it is plenty loud at 50W. I hear the speaker in the 100W sounds a bit darker, but the 50 sounds great. However the VT100 has a built-in effects loop that the others in the series lack. As a result I find some pedals don't sound so good with this at all. However given the built-in effects and flexibility to dial in tone, you'll rarely need more than what is already on-board. All in all the VT50 has a tremendous "tube-like" sound that really has to be heard. Well worth th money.

A wolf in sheep's clothing

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp was a special find for me. I feel that I found a "Diamond in the rough". I traded in my Mesa Boogie Studio .22 (a sensational amp)in order to consolidate the amount of equipment that I had. After the Mesa, I couldn't bring myself to buy a solid state amp. so, I was looking at tube amps and hybrids. I narrowed it down to the Fender Super Champ XD and this amp. While the Super Champ is an amazing amp, I found this amp to be far more versatile. This amp gives pure tube tone with the advantage of modeling. This amp is definitely geared toward moderate to high gain tones but the clean tones can be had as well and they are spectacular. I found the Vox to have wider range of tones than the Fender. Also, the power attenuator is a huge plus. You can get a Motley Crue sound while the kids are still asleep. When you play a Stratocaster through this amp clean, it can cut glass, but, if you plug in a Les Paul, it will melt in your mouth. At first, the distortion settings were kind of "fizzy" but, after the speaker got broken in the overdrive was "buttery". With this amp you can get Buddy Holly to Linkin Park and everything in between. I couldn't be any happier with my purchase than I am. Do yourself a favor and try this amp out. Really put the amp through it's paces and check all of the different settings and I think that you'll be as blown away as I am. Buy one and enjoy!!! Vox knocked on out of the park with this one.

Fantastic amp...finally I found it

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned all kind of amps. Solid states, valvestates, all tube etc. I play mostly at home and with a jam band often. This amp I chose over amps twice the price. I've never even thought VOX as an option. I read some reviews from here and different sites, including youtube demos. I could not believe how tube like this amp is. Its "punchy" like at low volumes, you feel it. Its has many different sounds. The Fender and vintage Vox sounds are fantastic. The JCM 800 or 5150 sounds are my favorite. Its so warm. I prefer it over any single speaker amp I've played. The Orange tiny terror and the Egnator are fantastic, but imo way overpriced. To me it wasn't about the money so much. Guitar Center guy about had me with the all tube ac15 vox. Better quality, but you have to crank it. I love to crank it, but most folks I know can't play to 11 at home. I'm telling you get it! The effects are so much better to me than the Line 6. Meaning not as many, but sound like like pedals or rackmounts. Only thing I would say is consider the VT100 if you gig on a regular basis. I've had ampegs, never an all tube marshall, but have played plenty, I had a 6260 Bugera all tube that played less than 30 mins at home and just died. I didn't buy it at Guitar Center. The Marshall had jack issues for 10 years. Hope this holds up. If there is a downside, its that it should come with a pedal board. Makes no sense to me. Ill get one, but its not a biggie. Play it before buying or just get it. Unless your a all tube purist there's no reason not to. I've played dozens in last few months and this is by far the best. Glad that Bugera died on me! Blessing in disguise.

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I just picked this up and had to get my review out there. This amp is just as advestised. It has improved my sound during its first band practice last night. It cut though the mix of a LOUD band at a little over half power. The features are amazing. I only set up 4 preset tones to use and have 4 more to make. Can't wait. If you are thinking about this amp, stop thinking and go get it!

It's Stunning

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for a good 6 months now and i play 2-3 hours a day. The amp is awesome ive had no downsdes to it so far, but im playing it on the most garbage guitar ever made but it still has an awesome tone. This vox combined with a guitar with EMG's or seymour duncans will only blow your mind more. This amp can overplay a drumset no problem, if you play in a band. Beats my brothers drum set on a little over only half wattage. All in all great amp AND BY FAR WORTH THE MONEY. you won't want to return it it has plenty of effects and go in order from most clean sound to most distorted. You don't have to waste money on so many pedals with all the effects this thing has. It also has a tap setting.(tap the buttom for how fast you want the effect). OVERALL IT'S WORTH IT. Email me with any questions about the amp. axeman224@hotmail.com

great for blues

By Big Sid and the Hoodoo Snake Doctors

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've only had mine for a short time as I bought it when my HDX had to go to tech and I had upcoming shows. I am mainly a blues and southernrock guitarist and have found this amp really works good for gigging. Shove a mic in front and sit back and wail. If it's a smaller venue it's got plenty of power as a stand alone. have had no problems and actually use it more than the HDX. Will be adding the foot switch in a couple of weeks. I have actually ran it in bypass and ran a full pedal board with no problem. also run my Vox wah inline every show with no problems. great Amp just wish I had bought one sooner.

decent amp

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT50 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Ive had this amp for 3 years now and it's held up well and ive had no problems, however this amp doesn't not have a grounding switch to stop the feedback from other devices, but it works fine w/ new power bars and wall outlets. The wide viarities of tones this tube can produce is amazing and the different amp model switch can make this thing sound like a vox AC 30 or 15 and other vintage models. I whould reccommed this amp to someone playing small to medium gigs in bars, private parties, etc.
