Overview

The convenient and powerful Valvetronix VT120+ combo amp delivers the guitar sounds sought after by discerning guitarists of every style. With a 12AX7 preamp tube, powerful new amp models, and the unique Power Level control, the VT120 Plus is ready to deliver the response and sound every player needs.

Tube-powered VOX Valve Reactor circuit
Every guitar player seeks the power and playability delivered by a tube amp; the fat drive tone, wide dynamic range, subtle picking nuances, and quick response. After painstaking analysis of guitarists' tastes and preferences, VOX has focused on the importance of the power amp circuit in creating the sonic characteristics long sought from tube amps. The VOX Valve Reactor was developed out of this power amp philosophy. Based on a 12AX7 vacuum tube, the Valve Reactor circuit at the heart of the Valvetronix VT120+ amp perfectly reproduces the operation, subtle nuances, and tonal character of a real tube-powered amp.

More amp models than ever before
The new Valvetronix+ Series boasts an amazing collection of 33 distinct amp models - a new milestone for Valvetronix amplifiers. In addition, the Valvetronix+ represents a giant leap in quality. The preamp EQ features Bass, Middle and Treble controls for precise tone-shaping. Beginning with classic VOX amps such as the AC30, the diverse amp model selection continues to encompass coveted amps from the pages of history, as well as the latest high-gain amps, providing a sound selection that spans the ages. Call up the sound of an old favorite, or experiment with amps you may never have tried - sought-after amps played by your guitar heroes, rare boutique amps, and vintage amps - and pursue unexplored sonic paths.

25 Diverse, high-quality effects
One of the best features of the VOX Valvetronix VT120+ modeling amp is the ability to combine the built-in effects with the onboard amp models to create a complete and powerful sound. Just as with the effects, the VT120+ makes no compromises when it comes to effects, boasting a level of quality that rivals top standalone units. The broad array of effects is divided into two sections: Pedal effects such as distortion, wah, and compressor; and Modulation/Delay effects such as chorus, flanger, and tape echo. In each section, there are 11 effects to choose from. Featuring easy-to-use settings, you can simultaneously select the effect type and adjust its parameters. In addition, there are three types of Reverb (Room, Spring, and Hall). With the addition of Noise Reduction, up to four different effects can be used at the same time.

99 Preset programs
The musicians at VOX have put together 99 preset programs for the VT120+, expertly voiced and ready for immediate use. Each of the 33 amp models provides three presets: Basic, Effected, and Song. An Effected preset calls up the correct combination of effect type and setting for a particular style.

Song presets are just like Effected presets; each one is a faithful recreation of the signature sound used by a famous guitarist to perform one of their classic tracks. Of course you're also free to edit any preset - or start from scratch with the manual setting - and save up to eight of your own custom sounds to the User presets.

Beyond the numbers
One of the greatest advances from previous Valvetronix models is the astounding sense of power generated by the VT120+. The power amp section has the potential to significantly exceed the wattage value indicated by the model name - as indicated by the shaded section of the Power Level knob. The new Valvetronix+ Series also feature a newly re-voiced VOX original design speaker that is sure to amaze you with a powerful sound that you would not expect from a chassis and speaker of this size. These fine Valvetronix+ amplifiers genuinely deliver sonic power that cannot be expressed by mere numbers.

Seize the power
The sense of drive produced in the tube power stage is what defines the inimitably fat and warm tone that's at the core of a great guitar amp sound. Our tube-driven Valve Reactor circuitry is at the heart of recreating this sound. Volume, Gain, and Master Volume controls provide key levels of controlling your gain to achieve a wealth of clean, overdriven and distorted sounds. In addition, these new Valvetronix+ Series amplifiers feature an altogether unique Power Level control. By lowering the Power Level, it's possible to achieve high levels of gain and distortion at any listening level. And, as was mentioned above, reserve power can also be dialed in using the Power Level control when you really need your amp to scream. The Power Level control allows you to take full advantage of the Valvetronix+ Series potential in any situation.

Convenient and versatile input and output
The headphone out jack can also be used as a direct line output. This output is equipped with the simulated response and character of a speaker cabinet, so you'll enjoy the natural spatial sense of playing through speakers, even when using headphones or when connected to a mixer or recording system. Plug your CD or MP3 player into the AUX input jack and enjoy jamming along with your favorite songs. In addition, the tuning function needed by every guitarist is built in, eliminating the need for a separate tuner.

Optional VFS5 footswitch operation
Plug in the optional VFS5 footswitch and use your feet to switch programs, turn the reverb and other effects on/off, and control their speed, providing additional options for sonic creativity and live performance power.

I am amp shopping. I went to a local music shop today and played the older VT. The tone was so compromised that I couldn't justify buying it for it's versatility. Then I went to GC and played the new vt120. Wow! What a difference! I won't say that the tone is as good as the AC15 that I also played at GC. But it is so much better than the older model VT. So much better that I am considering buying it. I think I can tweak the controls on the amp and my guitar to get some tones that can come close to the AC's. The effects may not be quite as good as boutique pedals but they sound nice, unlike the previous VT. Don't count out the new VT's before you try one.

Good for a beginner but does not make you work for your sound. The fx and gain are great. it is very loud and is good for small gigs. I does an okay (I'm being generous) job of imitating that classic box sound. For a starter amp it is the best you can get, and way better than some other brands, allot better gain and sound

Extremely impressed & happy with this Hidden gem.

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I initially went to my local guitar center to buy a fender blues deluxe 1x12. However, after noodling around on it for a few minutes it ended up not being everything I wanted. That's when I walked over to the VOX section. I sat down in front of this amp and started playing, and didn't stop for two hours haha. It's an absolute hidden gem. With the tube/digital set-up it sounds incredibly warm. Almost as warm as a 2x12 tube. The digital effects are quite fun to mess with. I'll probably just use my own effect board, but if you don't have the pocket money to drop on a pedal board, this is an incredible deal for you. The Tremelo is warm as as can be, and the autowah is one o f the best I've heard in years. This is a terrific deal for a gig/practice amp. She can make some serious racket and cut through your band's noise like the best.

VT120+

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is for me is a good buy. After getting a Gibson Les Paul I thought it was time for a better amp. I had a Line6 1x8 and hated it, especially when a friend calls and ask to help perform. I performed with this but a a small party and still it never had enough power. I couldn't really find a good amp head that that I saw that I can afford, plus it had the power I am looking for. Of course it is not as powerful as a 4x12 amp head and speaker but can be loud when needed with the voltage knob and have many, MANY more effects over 33 different amp sounds and around 12 pedals. It can be increased to 150 watts! Enough for small performance. The hybrid of Tube and Solid State is cool and interesting. This is a good performance amp in a small scale, if you mic it maybe it will be better. Overall this is a great amp for the price.

Vox VT120+

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a new amp to replace my Line 6 1x8. After playing second guitar with a friend I realized I would need more power. So I saved my pennies for this. The guy who showed me the amp and showed me all of its features, this was perfect for home use and performance. You have the ability to decrease the voltage so the amp will sound like a 10 watt at home and you can increase the voltage to 150 watts ( hence the name 120+). Don't get your hopes up when people say it's a TUBE amp, it's not its a valve reactor, a hybrid of solid state and tube. For the Increase of voltage to add more power is really cool, a steal for small performance, if you can't afford this (most can) the alternative would be the Fender Frontman 212r 100w. That is also a steal.

I own it

By Brian Puglisi

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

A I am playing larger gigs I need something with a little more power than my Egnater Rebel 30. What apealed to me was that the power could be adjusted to play a smaller room and get the as good results when the amp is cranked. I did change the tube to a JJ 12AX7 and changed the speakers out to two Celestion Vintage thirties the results was a more mellow highs and a tighter bass on all of the models I use. I also use a Vox Ice 9 as a front end which gives me three channels on any model I us. I was not blown away with the chorus on this amp but the rest of the effects are good. The distortion effects do not have enough control for my taste. I was totally impressed with the Marshall JCM 800 Model as well as the Vox AC30 and the Mesa rectifier model is spot on. The Fender Twin and and all of the Fender models are pretty sounding and I can barley tell the difference from the real thing. Then again those Cellesions are far better than the stock speakers which arent bad but I had them anyway and why not use them. I play four to five nights a week and this amp is always on its game and its versatility helps me whether I am playing Classic Rock Blues Jazz country you name it a good value for the price and fun to experiment with.

Wow! Tone, crunch, tube, and super power

By Aaron Thomas

from Phoenix

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought this to upgrade my Peavy 2x12EFX w/ext cab looking for more power, tone, and crunch. I have to say this is one of the best sounding and most powerful combo amps out there. Scary loud but amazingly rich tube like tone and onboard effects. I love being able to switch between Cali surf clean warm sound with delay and chorus to death metal with a filtron and reverb. The versatility and power is simply un matched. Smile every time I play her! I never ever write reviews but this amp is really amazing...

Real Sounds.

By Brian Puglisi

from Scottsdake ARIZONA

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been playing proffesionally for the last 35 years and I have always had four or five amps to ghe the different sounds that i wanted. This amp gives me more I like the dynamic control and as far asn amp modles this one nails it. I feel like I just got over a hundred grand of amps and effects. Try changing the 12az7 Ruby to a JJ or RCA or if you can find one a NOS Mullard which would been standard on the old vox amp. The Rube that in stalled is a littly thin. When I changed to the JJ amp was mor responsive to dynamics and it compressed and broke up better on most of the high gain channels.. and smooother and sweater on the clean sounds. As far a s this amp sounds well I now have the Martial JCM 800 I always wanted that vox AX30 top burst. and the wholy grail an emulation of a 29'000.00 dumble wou with full trweekability. T think I had an Egnater Rebel thirty and this oune out shines the sound nd the versality for this amp1 The learning curb was easy and the book is very informative. Job well done.

Super Amp

By Don Whitesel

from Lancaster, PA

Comments about Vox Valvetronix VT120+ 120W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I got a chance to try the new VT series amp today and tweak the sounds an bit. WOW the new VT amps are a lot better then the old ones. The distortion and over drive are an lot better. I like be able to get more crunch out of the amp and Vox finally improved things. My friend Sean who works at the Guitar Center in Lancaster also give the new Vox amp a try. We where both impressed with how this amp sounds. There are a lot of other great amps out on the market but, the built in effects on this are good. I plan to play both the new VT 80 & VT 120 some more but, I might just have to buy one for my birthday this spring.
