Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

You have to have this if you like that 60's sound. Look-up all the great players that used this wah. Get the a/c adapter if you want to save on batteries. The on/off switch is a little stiff but does not present a real problem if you are standing. Built like a tank.

    Bring it back four decades....

    By Dan

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is pedal is definitely a throwback to a better time. You get that vintage tone and feel. I use this with a Les Paul and a Marshall half stack is my god does it sing. I've played quite a few wah pedals, including alot of Dunlop Crybabys, and let me tell you not to waste your money on a Crybaby. These look, sound, and feel alot better. Sounds great on Clapton, Hendrix, and Beatles too.

    Tone sucker but sounds amazing

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal. No DC Jack, not true bypass, no volume knob, no led, and no battery compartment. With that aside... sounds great, rugged, great quality, and vintage vibe. It does jump a little in volume when you click it on, which great for lead but annoying for rythum.

Great tone but make sure your set up works with it

    By Darwinist in Kansas

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

The Vox V847 is a reissue of a classic from the infancy of Wahs. The most obvious aspect about this pedal is that it runs only off 9v, no AC adapter input. The thing to consider the most is how this will fit into you signal chain. I've found that with my small practice amp, Digitech RP80 processer and various distortion pedals it doesn't deliver a distorted wah tone I am really satisfied with...but it is absolutly awesome as a clean tone wah. I have yet to find a wah that sounds as good as this one for clean tone playing. I guess for distorted wah I may be picky, but this still has a unique sound that can be really interesting for cleaner stuff.

    Great 60's vibe Wah Pedal

    By JimiHendrixReincarnation

    from Glendale, WI

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

This pedal sounds like wah from the 60's music. It sounds great, and can be used for any song. The only small problem I have with it, is the change from on to off is very sensitive. Sometimes I accidentally turn it off when i'm into the song with the wah. But it is a great pedal for a great price. You should definately consider this pedal.

    Vox V847 Wah

    By mlogans91

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is one of the best wahs I have used, the sound quality is absolutely amazing. The downside to this wah though is that it doesn't sound as good distorted, and it is not as versatile as some other wahs. But if you are looking for versatility and distortion, check out and Ibanez Weeping Demon.

    Sound of the 60's...

    By AdamB

    from UK

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

So, you want to sound like the venerable Mr. Hendrix? Or nail that intro on Tales of Brave Ulysses? Then your probably gonna need a wah pedal. These V847's are re-issues of the 60's wah pedals, used by pub-gig fanatics the world over to get that voodoo child vibe going. The sound is a sort of EQ effect, where-by one moves the foot-pedal up/down to add more trebble/bass to the guitar signal, to create a vocal ohhh-ahhh-wahhh sort of sound. If you listen to any sort of rock music, you've undoubtedly heard this effect before. Compared to the original v847's that we all know and love, these are not quite the same circuts. For example, the halo inductors used in the originals are not present, probably because halo's are increasingly hard to come by. However, the pedal still contains that classic ohhh-wah-wah tone that instantly makes your guitar weep. The higher end is probably a little harsh (due to newer, silicon based transistors that are used these days), a bit too much trebble, especially on single coil strats. I found the sound is best if you back the trebble off post-wah with your amplifiers 'trebble' control, and use the neck position pickup on your guitar. The pedals are built to a high standard. The casing is thick die-cast metal, which leads me to believe it could probably withstand a short range missile attack (probably a useful feature, given the constant threat of terrorism). Also, the pedal looks very pretty, with it's original styled, shiny chrome "VOX" badge on the footpedal. Features wise, it' actually pretty lacking. There is no true-bypass, so the effect will "suck-tone" when it's not active. There is no LED indicator to tell you at a glance whether the effect is on or off and there is no 9V DC mains input. However, this is the same on the originals, so it really doesn't make too much difference. With that said, you can always ship it off to a modder, a person who will add the aforementioned features for a small fee. To be honest, the lack of features is easily made up for by the tone this thing creates. If you want to have the old-folks in the back of your local pub crying in the corner and telling tales of their days in the music biz back in the day, then you want this pedal.

    Classic wah

    By Gettinbetter

    from near Chicago

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

This pedal is a beast, and it's a solid as a brick-it seems to be more durable than the competition. The Vox Wah-Wah has all of the sweep and tone you'd want in a wah pedal. To my ears, the "heel down" tone on this pedal just can't be beat. There aren't any knobs to tweak on this classic, but it's hard to improve upon (near) perfection.

    Favorite Wah

    By RyanEsta

    from Nashville, TN

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is probably my favorite wah pedal out of them all! The sweeping action is awesome and the pedal is made of metal and completely sturdy. This pedal is PERFECT for gigs and shows. Easy to switch on and off, out of all the pedals I own, this one is my favorite.

    Good, Not Great Wah Pedal

    By Guitar Daddy

    from Greenville, SC

Comments about Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal:

I've been playing guitar for 20 years and have accumulated more gear than I care to admit. This Vox V847 wah-wah pedal is built like a tank. For live gigs you can really kick this thing around and not worry about it. Overall, I wish there was more depth to the sweep of the wah sound but it is still a good pedal for the price. Don't get me wrong, I'd buy another if it got stolen, I just prefer a more dramatic wah sound.
