Great variety of tones

Comments about Vox Night Train NT15C1-CL 1x12 Classic Limited Edition Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp really gives you a ton of options on both bright and girth channels. Got it last month, So glad I did. This amp will do everything from chime to grit to serious overdrive. The dark and thick switches really let you vary your sound on the clean channel. Love having a mid knob for grunge when in girth mode. Unlike a lot of tube amps, this one actually sounds pretty good at lower volumes. But, it really shines when you open up the master volume. The only issue (a minor one) I have is getting a good tone turning on the thick switch with my LP. For some reason it doesn't play nice with the burst bucker pickups without a deal of fussing with guitar and amp knobs. Sounds great with my Tele just flipping the switch. I'm still giving it a 5 though,as it is almost perfect with only one minor inconvenience.

Everything I'll ever need.

Comments about Vox Night Train NT15C1-CL 1x12 Classic Limited Edition Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm now "that guy". The guy that has equipment way better than his playing level. I had a great AC4C1, the blue one, but I wanted the depth of the 12" speaker in the AC15. I caught a good sale on the NT and couldn't pass it up. The clean channel pretty much is an AC15 with all of the signature sounds you'd expect, but then with a flick of a switch you have pure classic rock and roll overdrive. The Thick" switch unleashes the unedited truth. My only worry was that bedroom volumes wouldn't really let the bigger amp advantages be heard, but no problem. When it's time to get loud it seems to double in volume from 11'o'clock to two o'clock on master volume and gain. I'm very pleased.

great vox sound

Comments about Vox Night Train NT15C1-CL 1x12 Classic Limited Edition Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

just bought this amp new... wow what a pleasant surprise for such a small amp. sounds big and full. i love the vox sound (ac15/ac30) but miss having a Mid control. this amp has that and more. it can do american and british sounds and even a little more aggressive stuff. i love the bright channel, the thick mode engaged feels like a 5E3 and bypasses the tone stack. the girth channel smooths out nicely with the gain set at about 10 o clock and the volume to taste... sounds good with my three guitars, strat, powerjet and les paul w/ p90s... feels solid. i know its MDF but most everything is at this price point. i also own a couple blues juniors (v2 and NOS) bad cat cougar 15, fender twin, deluxe reverb, deluxe vm, hot rod deville, hot rod deluxe, orange amps, and have played through many boutiqe handwired amps like tyler amps, tophat, badcat USA, jackson amp works, divided by 13, chickenhead, victoria... this thing can sound just as good as any of them - stock! i wish it had a direct out. but thats about my only gripe other than that its everything you can ask for.

Changed my mind about tube amps

By BOB

Comments about Vox Night Train NT15C1-CL 1x12 Classic Limited Edition Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been playing guitar for 40 years. I learned to play on tube amps and I was happy when they went away. I have been a solid state fanatic for several years. I also do sound for a lot of events and I hate when someone shows up with a 100 watt tube amp and thinks I can put a mic on it. A 100 watt amp will fill a large venue without a mic. Tube amps do not start to sound good until the volume knob passes 5 and 11 is even better. Just as solid state amps usually don't sound good after the volume knob passes 5. But I can practice with this guy while the family watches tv and still get a 100 watt vintage tube sound. It is awesome in the studio and makes a perfect stage monitor that I can put a 57 on play any size venue in the world.
