Overview

Welcome the Night Train. Less than 5 pounds, it's light enough to take anywhere. Rehearsing, recording, gigging, or practicing quietly at home, the all-tube design offers a diverse range of authentic, all-tube VOX sounds. The Night Train Set includes the head and the matching single 10" V110NT cabinet.

Enjoy the Night Train all-tube head and matching V110NT cabinet with the Night Train Set. The preamp uses two 12AX7 tubes, while the power-amp uses one 12AU7, providing the drive, power, and fatness that's obtainable only from vacuum tubes. In addition to the Treble and Bass tone controls, Night Train offers a Bright/ Thick switch. The Bright mode boosts the high-frequency range for the familiar VOX chime; the Thick mode bypasses the tone circuitry, boosting the gain to create a more full and beefy sound. The V110NT provides a 10" custom Celestion speaker. Premium connection cable included.

Features
  • Authentic VOX all-tube tone in a stylish and ultra-compact 2-watt head
  • Two 12AX7 preamp vacuum tubes; single 12AU7 power tube
  • Treble & Bass EQ; Gain and Volume controls; Bright / Thick switch
  • Headphone/line out jack for direct recording or late night practice

Comments about Vox Lil Night Train NT2 Head and Cab:

Have had numerous amps over the years, and this little valve amp sounds great.
There are a few small tube heads and combos on the market, and this specific one might be out of print now.
Gets great smooth tube warmth at levels you won't have police at your door about.
Probably not a great amp for band use, unless it's mic'd into a house PA or mix board.
Small 10" speaker is cool, but wish it was 12".
The looks, sound, easy control design makes for a very sweet bedroom amp.
    I like mine.

Meet Your New Favorite Go-to Practice and Low Wattage Recording Amp!!!!

    By Perry

    from Newbury Park Califorinia

Comments about Vox Lil Night Train NT2 Head and Cab:

Over the last 7 years or so, amp manufacturers have offered a wide variety of low powered tube amps. From ?lunch box? heads to combos with 10? or even 8? sized speakers, these amps give the guitarist a chance to capture real tube tone without going deaf or ending up with a broken back. The goal for such an amp is simple: Drive the power section to offer that lush, glossy, buttery sweet tone at a volume that the neighbors and/or roommates will appreciate (because they won?t be able to hear it!). A lot of us still kind of associate tube amps with 50 to 100+ Watts of ear splitting power, and consider their low wattage counterparts as novelties. For those who have taken the plunge, however, these smaller amps often become a player's off-stage go-to partners in tone. The VOX Lil? Night Train is one such amp. At 2W of power, this little class A amplifier delivers the sound and feel that only a tube amp with a pushed power section can. How do they do it? A 12AU7 in the power section along with a lean signal path. Yes you read it right, one single 12AU7. Normally reserved for the preamp, placing it in the power section means that no matter where the volume is, the amp is getting pushed. Combine that with 2 x 12AX7?s in the preamp and this little head sings! You won?t get Twin like cleans, but it does clean up nicely via either your guitar?s volume knob or rolling back the gain on the amp. It?s best if your guitar has medium to low output pickups if you?re using the amp?s gain to clean it up, otherwise your guitar's volume in conjunction should suffice. As with all tube amps, the louder you crank this amp, the better it gets! As mentioned above, because its power amp section is driven by a single 12AU7, you?re going to get lush tube tone at any volume, but when dimed, everything turns to extra creamy butter, no matter how clean or how dirty you have the gain! For extra push and full sound, the ?Bright/Thick? switch allows you to bypass the tone controls (when switched to ?Thick?) making for an ultra-short signal path and even more creamy goodness! You?ll find the Lil? Night Train can deliver a loud 2 Watts, but it?s not ?leave the room? loud, and that?s the idea! You don?t get a lot of extraneous bells and whistles on here. There are no DSP effects, no modeling, and no effects loop. What you do get, however, is TONE. For the purists out there, this may very well become your favorite practice and low volume recording amp. You can play out with it, but in a live situation you?ll need either a quiet drummer or a mic through the PA. However, once you play through it, you?ll understand right away how cool this amp is and what you?ve been missing out on. Offering this amp as a head and cab package adds to its versatility. The Lil Night Train can power larger cabinets that are either 16 Ohms (at 2 Watts) or 8 Ohms (at 1.5 Watts). Used with the included cab, it?s a compact lightweight stack, and the Celestion speaker inside is a great match for the tonal qualities of the head. Speaking of which, Vox cut no corners with this package! The cab contains a 1x10 Celestion VX10 speaker and it even comes with a great sounding and high quality speaker cable. Yes, even the speaker cable is worth calling out with the Lil' Night Train. Whether you?re looking for a practice amp with real tube tone that sings, a great little recording amp, or both, you NEED to check this amp out! Both me and the other guitar player in my band have each picked one up and we?re both blown away. This IS now my main amp off the stage.
