The acclaimed VOX AC30C2 Custom Series amplifier, now available in a limited edition featuring vintage 1963 blue vinyl and classic tygon fret cloth! An ultra-unique amp that fuses vintage and pop styling.
An Evolution in Tone
VOX Custom Series amps offer two channels, Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own volume control. The Top Boost channel offers highly interactive treble and bass controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.
Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. This VOX Custom Series can deliver everything from a clean VOX "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone in a limited edition blue package.
Sound in Motion
You can sweeten the sound of your Custom Series amplifier using the VOX Classic Tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. Spring reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. The VOX AC30C2-BL also includes an additional tone control in the Reverb section. All Custom Series amps can use the VOX VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the reverb and tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play. The AC30C2-BL provides an effects loop for incorporating your favorite effects into your sound. True "Bypass" switching takes the entire effect loop out of the circuit.
The AC30C2-BL amp make use of three 12AX7 preamp tubes and use four EL84 tubes to deliver 30 watts of power. The AC30C2-BL uses two 12" Celestion G12M Greenback speakers. All models in the Custom Series offer a switchable 8/16 ohms output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a second extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohms cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

I guess I'm not the most qualified reviewer, considering I just got this amp home a couple hours ago, but oh well. This thing is a beast so far. It gets pretty loud for 30 watts, though an extra cab may be necessary for un-mic'd gigs. The overdrive: oh, where do I begin... The C2 has some of the sweetest, smoothest, creamiest overdrive I have ever heard. I actually opted for this amp over a used CC2 for $650 that was in the store I bought this at because in all honesty, the overdriven tone of that amp was awful. It was harsh, loose, and somewhat tinny. The driven tones on this baby are completely opposite though. Organic sounding and rich with plenty of low end thanks to the two 12" Greenbacks, and also plenty of midrange and treble chime for that classic Vox sound. When driven, the outside of the amp gets quite hot, especially the power/standby switches so be careful when turning the amp off after extended sessions. And now on to the appearance. I chose to get the blue version rather than the normal black because, while the black AC30's are an instantly recognizable classic, I know it will be great 20, 30, or 40 years from now to have one of the 200 blue AC30's. Mine is number 167/200, by the way. The Tygon grill cloth and beige vents, corners, and handles go great with the blue Tolex and gold trim. It is just a beautiful amp, so until GC gets some photos of it on their site, you will have to either take my word for it or go google some images of it. Overall, this amp has everything I want in a piece of gear, except six strings and a pickup.
