After going through the search and research to find the perfect amp. This amp has it all, from a great clean channel for Jazz and Blues. To a dirty channel that is perfect for Rock & Roll, Do the research and save yourself the hassle of buying and returning. VOX AC50CPH Classic is the perfect amp !!
When I first started looking at this amp, I was looking for something just a little different. I have a Vox AC30 and a Marshall DSL along with a host of other tubes amps and cabs. I have the opportunity to play in a cover band several times a year and was looking to not have to take my Marshall and my Vox both. This amp, with a little tweaking, will cover enough ground to get me my cleans, overdrives, and distortion without having to use 2 amps. As an FYI, I have never played the Vox cab that goes with this amp, but I am currently playing through a custom built cab (built to my specs) that is using V30's and G12-65's in an X pattern. Lots of nice low end (not woofy) and the highs and mids are very articulate without being harsh. Lots of different sounds in this amp and tweaking it will yield a ton of useable tones. Just a really nice sound all the way around. Feels like it is ruggedly built and will last a lifetime. Came with Ruby EL34B power tubes and I don't see a need to change them out at the moment as they really sound good. Les Paul's and SG's will yield classic tones, Strat's and Tele's will give you some really nice cleans, my double cutaway LP with the P90's will get into blues territory quickly, and my PRS with the blackout's will send you into a heavy territory that sounds very nice. All of this out of one amp. Nice job, Vox! Like all amps, this one is probably not for everyone, but it certainly does the trick for me and it is definitely a "keeper". You owe it to yourself to try one out. I bought mine from GC on-line and didn't hear it (outside of the online demos) until it was delivered at my house. Vox and GC have a rep for doing things right and this amp definitely reinforces both of those facts. Thanks to my local GC for letting me trade my old amp in and then working with me to get this one ordered on line.
Got this for my band strictly to do recording and over the course of the past two weeks it has continued to exceed our expectations. You can get a gritty dirty sound out of this amp on the "fat" channel and then, at the flip of a switch, you can dial in a very nice crunch that breaks up just enough when you really slam on the chords, and then you dial that back to the regular clean channel, which can really fit into any genre of music. Extremely moldable sound!!!
This thing is incredible, for the money you cant beat it. Been playing over 35yrs and this thing will do it all if you throw a pedal or two in front of it. Comes loaded with rubys el34's and tung sol preamp tubes. Good tubes so you wont need to change any of them unless you prefer mullards, etc. You can bias it from the back of the amp which is sweet as hell for me cause I always bias my own. It looks real nice. The reverb is decent, no fender but nice and smooth. Sounds good with hum and single coils. Sounds good with all pedals including fuzz pedals. Nuff said get one before they are all gone.
