Vox Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.

Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the Custom Series can deliver everything from a clean Vox "chimey" sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion
You can sweeten the sound of your Custom Series amplifier using the Vox Classic Tremolo effect. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. All Custom Series amps can use the Vox VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play.

Power Sharing
The AC15 combo makes use of three 12AX7 preamp tubes and uses pair of EL84 tubes to drive a single 12" Celestion Alnico Blue speaker. It offers a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a second extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

Comments about Vox AC15C1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been playing off and on for 50 years for my enjoyment. I have had several amplifiers. All of them have been good, but this amp allows you to have it all, chimey tone, tremolo, reverb, and overdrive that you can play at a reasonable volume level or cranked. I had a popular 15 watt Fender Amp and it was okay but it had nowhere near the versatility that this amp has. I am very happy.

Comments about Vox AC15C1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Was planning on a Fender 65 twin but could not spend that much for playing at home.Bought the Ac 15c1x for about half and glad I did.I play at home these days and have been playing a lot of music by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This amp is really clean for songs like American Girl and can dial in just enough gain for Mary Janes last dance. If only my playing was that good. The clean headroom and volume are more than enough.I am 65 yrs old and play for fun but I have an American Deulxe telecaster and wanted a good amp for the high end guitar.Tube amps and especially the Vox are now my amps of choice.

Comments about Vox AC15C1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp wanting something easier to carry back and forth to rehearsals . My normal rig gets to be a pain carrying up and down stairs to and from my house twice a week, that's including a gig on the weekends usually. I play an Orange Rockerverb MK II 50 watt head and 2x12 cab using a Strat and a Les Paul. I play classic rock, blues and alternative. I also wanted to create a little diversity in my arsenal of amps and always wanted a Vox. I love the tone of guys like Brain May.

Now for the good. The amps seems very solid and well built. The alnico blue speaker is excellent, but it really takes some time to break one in as the highs are very chalky when it's new. Knowing that, I looked past it trying to dial in some good tones. Using my Strat I was able to get a decent clean and turning the volume knob on the top boost channel (which is like your gain) I was able to get a good crunchy classic rock sound, but not much beyond that as far as gain. This little guy gets pretty loud to for 15 watts too.

Here's where I ran into some problems. I play a lot of lead and I engage pedals pretty often. A wah 535cq, a rotovibe, delay and an overdrive. When I engaged the overdrive and went for a lead the limited vocabulary of this amp began to show. Bends, screams and squills I would try to induce came up kinda muddy and lacked articulation. I don't go for a super saturated sound either, I just couldn't get all my notes to come through no matter how much I tried to clean it up. If I had more than one pedal on, it was even worse. this unfortunately was a deal breaker with me and I sent the little guy back. I really wanted to keep this amp, but I knew for the money I could find something more versital. Bottom line is this is a decent amp but just wasn't fluent enough in my language for me to keep.

Comments about Vox AC15C1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

My first AC15C1X was damaged in transit, but MF had a replacement out the same day. Guitar players are always looking for "the sound". I just found mine in the AC15. I chose the 15 because it is lighter and because I play smaller clubs and venues. The 30 is just too heavy and powerful. This little amp hits the sweet spot at a realistic volume for small venues. It gets down and dirty without getting lost in the band. It is bright and gritty at the same time. No more having to crank the volume when I switch to a driving lead just to be heard. I am not sure yet about the interactive tone controls, but that may grow on me. I play a Ric 360. This AC15 gives me "the sound" for blues and classic rock. And just a quick tweak lets me get clean enough for 50's music. The tremolo is great. The reverb is not as good as I am used to, but adequate. I have waited for years to have a good, tube Vox. This is the one.
