I have used an amPlug AC30 for a year-and-a-half or so. I like it, but headphone wires can get in the way while playing and be a nuisance. I bought an amPlug Cabinet as soon as it became available. No, of course you aren't going to get big sound from a 3" speaker. The tone is always bright, but I can dial in both clean and crunchy tones. The pluses are that the amPlug cabinet is small enough to fit in the case with my Strat and, since it is battery powered, I can plug up and be practicing in seconds. I think it is good for what it is and would replace it if it were lost.
I picked a Vox amPlug as an impulse buy and found myself using it every day at home, so I fugured I better get the cabinet to go with it! This thing is awesome! I find myself plugging into it all the time. It's addicting. Does it sound just like my real amps? Of course not, look at the size of it! Is it the coolest thing ever? You bet!
As delighted as I was with the amplug for the bass and the sound in the earphones, my hopes were probably too high for this tiny speaker. It will probably be great for a guitar, but it's pretty unsatisfying for the bass. It allows someone else to hear the notes that you're playing, but you won't impress them.
