The amp sounds great, BUT it kept tripping out when we practiced. I went through two of these, thank you Guitar Center for standing by your customers! Come to find out there is a defect in the wiring from the solid-state circuit to the transformer and the wire is such a small gage that it burns up under heavy loads. The thing didn't trip the circuit breaker on our surge strip and didn't trip the other guitarist off line - but it sure did smoke and smell up the hall! it's really too bad to because the amp sounded great and was a solid partner for the sounds coming from the other guitarists Class A tube amp. Unfortunately there was no way to repair the amps and I ended up swapping out to a Line 6 Flex III, which isn't bad but it doesn't have the same warmth of tone that the Vox did. Too bad the quality has gone way south on the Vox products. I wrote to them and never heard a word back.

This is one of the best amps i have ever played

I was looking into getting either a marshall or the vox 30W version of this. i went all out and bought this amp. once i got the settings the way i liked them, i saved them and now i can switch between them by the push of a button. thie best sound this amp gives is more classic rock but it also does distortion very well. my friend has the 75W line 6 and that has more presets and whatnot but when it is put to the test sounds nothing like mine. This amp is very loud and plays smaller gigs at a low volume of what it can get to. when turned all the way up you cannot hear anything except the amp... which is great when the wife or parents are yelling at you! haha. i dont really think i anything to slam on this amp at all. it is great!

Great amp for the money

The Vox AD50VT is a great and affordable hybrid amp that sounds brilliant for lots of genres of music. It has a 12AX7 tube in the power amp section and it has good quality effects. CLEANS: The clean models sound excellent. My favorite clean is the Boutique clean which is based on a Dumble amplifier. It has a tight bottom end sound and a good amount of high end that results in a beatiful clean sound. There's a decent amount of headroom for cleans too. Low-Medium Gain Sounds: This is probably one of the best parts of the amp. The Vox AC30 model sounds magnificent. It's perfect for classic rock rhythm tones on the bridge pickup and creamy lead tones on the neck pickup. The UK 70's model is also great, but I think it has too much low end. Medium-High Gain Sounds: This is also a strong point in the amp. The UK 80's model is so awesome. Putting the gain all the way up makes an excellent 70's and early 80's metal sound. I don't use the UK Modern model much, but it's a really creamy distortion. Onto the Boutique OD model. I absolutely love this model. It sounds just like a classic british amp with more gain! Extreme High Gain Sounds: This is where the amp really disappoints. I mainly play metal with lots of gain and this amp just doesn't have enough gain in the Nu Metal setting (dual rectifier) or the US Hi-Gain setting. It just can't give you the chugga chugga sound and pinch harmonics don't are weak and don't last long (its not because of my pickups: JB/Jazz). What i do to solve this problem is use my Line 6 Uber Metal distortion pedal to add more gain and to tighten the sound up. Now it sounds amazing! Effects: This amp provides you a lot of effects and will keep you running to Guitar Center to buy pedals, but one problem in this amp, as well as many other amps is that you can't have delay and reverb on at the same time. Also, the auto wah is crap and it's not easy adjusting the parameters of the effects. OVERALL this amp is a great sounding amp that is cheap! But, if you're planning on buying this amp but have more money than this amp costs, I'd suggest you get a real tube amp since this is just a step down of a tube amp.

Marshall who?

If you want a British amp with great sound, this is the way to go. I was not thrilled with a line 6 modeling amp. When it was stolen out of my car, I went for quality for replacement. Vox delivers. Great sound, great effects, WONDERFUL WITH A BIG MUFF PI RUSSIAN! My Cry Baby hits all of its tones, my Les Paul loves the sustain. I have used it at home and at practice. The first time I used it I was surprised that a 1x12 could get so loud. Good Amp. I love Vox's sound. I could not get a Marshall to compare.
