NEW REVIEW - Don't waste your time

I bought this expecting at a minimum good sound and quality. It wasn't the case the first night out of the box I knew this was going back. The reverb feature had a constant hiss and the speaker rattled with just a little bit of volume. Don't waste your time or money.

The Vox Pathfinder Blazes a Path to Toneful Bliss

I purchased my Vox Pathfinder Combo from Guitar Center and couldn't wait to crank it up at my home studio. This little amp rocks! I couldn't have expected more from a small 15 watt combo. I had the walls vibrating from the awesome power this little moster produced. Hook it up to a Marshall 4x12 cabinet and you won't believe your ears. No fancy effects or special features just a warm Tube-like tone with old-school distortion. This is a good-looking, reliable and compact combo. Buy it and you'll blow away much larger amps and have your bandmates amazed.

A great little powerhouse

I have held off on wriing a review on this amp. I have now owned it for more than a year and a half. I play out every weekend and have used the VOX PATHFINDER every night. This amp kicks butt. The sound is very nice and you won't belive how loud the 15 watts can sound. I play in a midi sequenced duo in rooms that range from small restaurant/bars to very large banquet rooms. The sound of this little amp is very impressive. The reverb is very nice. I run a line from the line output of the Pathfinder into my Mackie board in larger rooms and put it through the PA system. The line output is the best I have ever used with any amp. There is no hum or overload from the Pathfinder line output. The amp is very light to carry and takes a beating (It has been dropped several times, once from about four feet to a sidewalk when it fell off of a fully loaded hand truck..it still works fine). This is one investment I have not regretted. If this amp got run over by a truck today, I would be out buying another one exactly like it. For my needs it is near perfect.

I'm A Believer

I've had mine for 3 years...in 2005 I had a gig at an outdoor festival. My regular amp crapped out so I grabbed my Vox, wondering how it would sound with the direct out...or at least miked. It kicked BUTT direct out and miked and I have NOT been schlepping a heavy amp since! It also records very well...miked and direct out...As a 30 year veteran player, I can testify that THIS is the BOMB...and for the price? Go ON! GET ONE!

Best Kept Secret in Amps

The Vox Pathfinder 15R is easily one of the most under-rated practice amps out there. It is extremeley warm for a solid state amp, and very well balanced tonally. You can go from clean and chimey, to dark and fuzzy, and all places in between. I've had mine for 3 years and like it more the better I get to know it. The treble and bass controls are very interactive, and I love the built in tremolo. The reverb is usable, but tends to get splashy past 1 o'clock. I wish it had a trim pot for the boost function..10db is a bit much for a boost. I also recommend getting the optional footswitch as it really opens up your possibilities. That said, if you are looking for a small, reliable, tone-ful amp for under $150, this is the way to go.
