Vox Joe Satriani Big Bad Dual Wah Guitar Effects Pedal (105322572)

2 onboard wahs built to Satriani's specs.

Benefitting from Joe Satriani's years of experience and built to his specifications, the VOX Big Bad Wah is a dual-mode pedal with switchable access to two wah modes and unique features for a wide range of wah sounds. Satriani contributed numerous ideas that were unheard of in existing wah pedals, endowing the Big Bad Wah with an unparalleled range of sounds from vintage to modern, as well as controls so users can create their own unique sounds.

Wah One faithfully replicates classic VOX wah sound, albeit hot-rodded to Joe's specs. Wah Two delivers all the wah-pedal know-how that Satriani has accumulated over many years, as well as the ability to customize your own wah sound. The Drive knob mimics the Wah 1 gain at its lowest setting; at its highest, it delivers a 10dB boost for aggressive, growling overtones. The Voice switch instantly takes you from traditional wah voicing to a dark, resonant tone reminiscent of a vintage talk box.

The Big Bad Wah also allows you to select between a vintage, U.K.-style inductor, and the more modern USA style. Also features a custom pot designed specifically to Joe Satriani's specifications to deliver a smooth, musical tone throughout the entire sweep of the pedal.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

Should be clear that only the inductor choice option works on both modes and this is a blanket change, it effects both wahs, one or the other inductor. The Voice option does not alter the mode 1 wah. Both inductors and the voice option sound great and have their uses. This feature makes this wah worth having, like the MXR CAE wah with two inductors. The issue you can set a std Vox Wah with either inductor as mode 1 then footswitch to a mode 2 wah (during performace) having a different voice or boosted as much as 10db is over the top tone for solos or a real dynamic bridge passage. The pot is first rate, smooth, responsive, you can tell Joe voiced this wah as no matter what mode or option you try it all sounds extremely musical and quality tone. I have this (like Joe) 1st in chain, into my Whammy (used for harmonizer effects not the weeeoooo thing), this into the ICE 9, then into the Satchurator. The TimeMachine is in the loop before the Lexicon reverbs on the Hardwire RV-7, really brings on the tones. Occasionally I add a more intense gain box after the Satchurator for severe metal meltdown. But in general the Satchurator and the ICE 9 do it all using different levels of tube gain. Great pedal, you cannot go wrong with all the Vox Satriani boxes nothing in recent times has gotten me excited about playing again. I hope to buy another entire set of them and save them in the boxes.

  • JS Vox Wah

As reviewed by Alex Garcia on 4/10/2009

I had a feeling about this wah from the first time I saw it and I was right!! This thing is great!! Best affect I've ever bought. Channel one is a pretty standard Vox sound with a little more bite, channel 2 is great, two different voices for lots of sound. The sweep on any setting is very smooth, no bogging out. Satch knows his effects.

  • Best Wah Out There

As reviewed by Luke Hudson on 11/1/2009

This was my very first pedal. I saw it online and noted that this was one of the few where you could customize your own sound. The ability to customize is the highlight of this product. Wah 1 is reserved more for quiet or soft sounds while Wah 2 is for louder or more distorted sounds. Each then can be adjusted by the drive knob, which can make it sound somewhat muffled, the inductor, which makes the sound more vibrant, and then the toggle switch, which allows for "growling wahs" or "merry wahs". Whether you've never owned one of these types of pedals before pedal before or if you've gone through several, always pick this one as your wah of choice.
