Excellent buy

I bought this VOX DA5 5W amp for my son. He's been playing for a couple of years now and this amp was a nice step up from the starter amps that he has played with at a great price. Before this amp he played with a Behringer 15W, and Crate GX15-R. This amp blows them away. It has many different sounds that he likes to experiment with. Since it is small, it is so much easier for him to carry it around. I highly recommend checking it out. It seems like this would be a great amp at any experience level just practicing at home.

The little amp that could.

I was looking for a micro amp that had great effects, great quality, and most importantly great tone. At first i was going to buy the Roland Micro, but i heard VOX had a much better micro with more effects. So i headed over to GuitarCenter and tried it out, and fell in love with it instantly. The auto wah is very dynamic and you can get real cool sounds out of it, and as for the rest of the effects, they are phenomenal considering it is a small 5 watt micro amp. All in all, i was pleasantly surprised at the volume this amp could muster and still retain it's tonal qualities, for the guitarist on the go, this is a great buy.

Great portable/practice amp

When I shopped for a portable amp,I chose this over other brands or models for a few reasons: Switchable wattage allows you to choose battery life as well as getting more overdrive/distortion with less volume. The features on-board are as many or more than other portable amps, and the price is competitive. I've used it for harmonica and guitar amplification, and can't find a bad thing to say about it in the context of a practice or portable amp that takes a 1/4" jack. I gave it a notch down in features and overall for the slightly heavier weight than some other portable amps, and the effects which are combined as pairs, vs. individual control of each effect. Still plenty of choices and capability for the money and design.

Wow - this amp ROCKS!

I recently bought a Line 6 Spider III 75, and love it so much my 12 year old combo had to go. But I did need a small amp for when friends come over, etc. I stopped in at GC thinking I would be getting a Roland Cube (which sounded great, BTW). I played the Cube for awhile, then saw the Vox and decided to at least try it. I played a Squier strat through it (which my friends play) and it sounded fantastic. The crunch sound completely sold me. The compressed clean sound is outstanding. I bought it, then took it home and plugged in my Les Paul and my 15 year old EMG loaded Strat. Talk about blown away. I couldn't believe how much tone I could get. The clean channels and the crunch sound like a million dollars with my Strat. With the LP, the Hi-gain channels rock. Amazing sound for such a little speaker. Also, the effects are really very good. I love the auto-wah (which my Line 6 had it). Controlling the effects is pretty complex. Makes Line 6 look simple (which is saying something). I noted earlier I played through the Cube, but then bought the Vox. I think the Cube looked more durable, and sounded very good, but the Vox tones blew the Cube away. Very happy with this purchase. Can't wait until my friends try it.
