Head-and-cab version of this affordable Class A, all-valve amp.

Way back in 1961, Vox rolled out the AC4 amplifier. Nearly fifty years later, Vox is pleased to announce the AC4TV, the all-tube half stack that's perfect for practice and gives players remarkable control. This up-to-date Class A version retains the distinctive EL84 power tube of the original and features a 12AX7 powered preamp, all driving the Vox V112TV speaker cabinet fitted with a custom-made Celestion 12 inch speaker. The sophisticated sound is unmistakably Vox, delivering that distinctively British top-end tone.

Simple and sexy, the Vox AC4TV practice amp wears its pedigree proudly. The cabinetry features the same TV-front design first used on the classic 1958 AC15, and still in use on today's AC15H1TV Heritage Series. One of the challenges confronting an all-tube amp is retaining a full tone at lower volumes. To solve this issue, this Vox amp head features a built-in power attenuator, with 4-watt, 1-watt and 1/4-watt output levels—ensuring you never lose that classic tube tone, even at the lowest listening levels.

As part of the modern classic guitar series, the Vox V112TV guitar speaker cab was designed to compliment the AC4TV amp head for powerful, vintage tone.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

As reviewed by Derek Shaw on 10/25/2011

This amp is Great! It's the perfect amp for a small space. It may not be the best amp for an apartment. On 1/4 watt, this thing is pretty loud before it starts to break up (for that I would recommend the ac4 mini, which I have played but only at the store and it rocks for a 6 and 1/2' speaker) I have this for a practice amp in my basement. i bought it to sing and song write and to play with my 4 year old on his jr. drum set and it sounds amazing! I'm not sure if it would hang with a full size kit, but if you need a practice amp that will save your ears... buy this amp! It has a warm jingle middle that is WOW. I can get so many sounds out of this amp, from surf to blues to classic rock. Metal heads buy a Marshall Class 5 but other wise I would highly recommend this amp. The only things I would change is add a reverb, master volume and headphone jack. Also white is unappealing but for the price I don't think you can beat it. As far as pedals go, I've had my digitech rp7 on it and it does pretty good. My search for the right amp is finally over (until I need to move up to the ac15 or 30)

  • Amazing!!

As reviewed by Ro on 6/2/2010

This amp may be 4 watts but it really gets loud. It gets an amazing clean sound. Also it has a power aperture that is convenient, especially for it not blowing your ear drums out. It may not get good metal distortion naturally but can still be achieved by a distortion pedal. All and all amazing.

  • Nice Overdrive Tone

As reviewed by DancingBear on 8/9/2010

This amp really is pretty nice. There is very little clean headroom, and the stock speaker is junk, but once you swap the 12ax7 for a 12at7 and throw in a Weber Blue Dog you will have the tone you are looking for. The amp is not loud enough for gigging, or even practice if you have a loud drummer (I play with it on full blast all the time). I find if you dime the volume you can get a decent Black Sabbath tone. The attenuation is great for bedroom volume, but not for tone, because at a 1/4 watt there is no tone left. The tone knob does very little, it should be thought of as a presence know instead. The thing that killed me at first is NO REVERB!! Argh. Comparing it to my Silverface Twin was like torture! But I picked up a Holy Grail Reverb and that fixed the bug. All in all, good amp for the price.
