      Vox AC4TV 4W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp (476326)
Availability:

It's retro, it's chic, it's all-tube and it's all VOX.

Way back in 1961, VOX rolled out the AC4 amplifier. Nearly 50 years later, VOX is pleased to announce the AC4TV—the all-tube practice amp with remarkable self control. This up-to-date Class A version retains the distinctive EL84 power tube of the original AC4 amp and features a 12AX7 powered pre-amp, all driving a custom-made Celestion 10" speaker. The sophisticated sound is unmistakably VOX, delivering that distinctively British top-end tone.

Simple and sexy, the AC4TV wears its pedigree proudly. The cabinetry features the same TV-front design first used on the classic 1958 AC15, and still in use on today's AC15H1TV Heritage Series. One of the challenges confronting an all-tube amp is retaining a full tone at lower volumes. To solve this issue, the AC4TV features a built-in power attenuator, with 4W, 1W, and 1/4W output levels—ensuring you never lose that classic tube tone, even at the lowest listening levels.

The AC4TV also adds a 16-ohm speaker output, allowing you to add an additional cabinet and state your sonic signature with authority.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

  • Decent little amp

As reviewed by Jeff on 11/8/2010

I went to GC with the intention of buying the Fender Champion 600. I decided to test out other amps while I was there and fell in love with this one. It was a bit more but I decided to get it anyway. I was looking for something to record in my home that wouldn't bother the neighbors and this is perfect. I read some reviews where people would gig with this. I wouldn't even consider playing this in a band. It's very loud for it's size but in my opinion 4 watts isn't going to cut it, but for home recording or practice it is perfect. I find the attenuator very useful. I can get a sweet crunch at low volumes on the 1/4 watt and 1 watt setting and can get a decent clean at the 4 watt setting. The clean does break up a bit early for my liking but my guitar has high gain humbuckers so I need to test it out with a Strat style guitar to make a better assessment. Don't get me wrong though, the clean is great and is loud enough for my purposes of recording. Actually, for a 4 watt amp this is much louder than I expected, just not band worthy. I was initially having buyers remorse for dropping the additional money but I think it is worth it in the long run. It's actually perfect for what I wanted so I'm very happy with it.

  • As important as your guitar itself for tone

As reviewed by Joel on 2/19/2011

I was looking at the various small combo amps with simulations of the various famous amps of the past. Well the VOX simulator on one sounded great and then I thought "Why not buy a real Vox?" and found this. It was a bit more expensive than I wanted but when I got it home I had no regrets. In fact I feel like I was foolish for even debating it. This amp sounds so warm and smooth I feel like it was a major upgrade to my Fender and D'Armond hollow body. Crazy beautiful tone. I really like the 1/4 watt mode as well though actually that is pretty loud as well. There are no limitations on this amp. You have to try it and decide if the way it projects your guitar is what you're looking for. Amazing.

  • Creamy tone - very quiet

As reviewed by Crazy Dave on 6/24/2011

I have been playing through a refurbished Spiegel 30w "kay" 606 and an assortment of Marshall tube heads. I am now using the VOX AC4TV in combination with the KAY on stage, leaving the Marshalls hot but unused. The VOX AC4TV has plenty of gain to use in small clubs(we wear IEMs) with the addition of a mic. The Vox is now my go to amp for pure clean and quite tone as well as wonderfully thick distortion when sent into overdrive. The VOX has the most beautiful soft clip distortion that I have heard in years. With the switchable wattage settings this amp has a remarkable variety of clean tone and distorted sounds. From incredible bell like clean sounds to very nice British vintage distortion without the use of pedals. Add a boost pedal and your favorite FX pedals and prepare to soar into outerspace. This is a great sounding and very affordable amp. A must for everyones arsenal. BUY IT!!
