As a part of its V2 Series of pedals, Visual Sound is proud to announce the arrival of its original Compressor now in a single pedal called Comp 66. As soon as the Route 66 pedal came out in 1999, Visual Sound started getting request upon request for the compressor channel to be made into a single pedal. Well here it is! This new effect pedal can sound like the vintage Dyna Comp or Ross compressor, only much more versatile.
The Visual Sound V2CMP66 Comp 66 is a compression pedal that has a switchable Tone Control knob and a clean/boost preamp controlled by the Gain knob. The Comp 66 is a powerhouse of compression that's as quiet as a church mouse!
Equipped with level knobs for Comp, Tone, and Gain, it can be set for classic squash or clean boost with the unique preamp stage and Gain knob. This allows for a truckload of clean gain. The tone control can be switched on for maximum control, or off to simplify your tone control to just your instrument knob. 1/4" jacks in and out.
Features a die-cast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10-million cycle switching, easy battery access, and circuit protection from AC adapters.

The V2 Comp 66 is the most transparent, most versatile comp pedal on the market. I have owned Keeley 2 knob compressors, Wampler Ego Compressor, Pigtronix, MXR....etc. this has been the most impressive comp pedal I have ever owned. You can dial in heavier compression for that tight chicken picken country stuff or dial in several variations of sustaining compression for that good ol Rock sound. The tone off on switch allows for limitless variations of tone and the V2 pedals are the best sounding, best constructed pedals at any price point. I have 5 V2 pedals in my pedal board of 13 pedals.
yes, exactly what the title says. usually, the problem with compressors is that they're overkill on your signal. which is fine if you play country (and believe me, it can do that too), but i was looking for something nice and transparent that makes my live tone sound closer to the studio. it does just that...
...and more. i use it almost constantly, and have the gain set just above uniform (around 1 o'clock or so). so when i do turn it off, i can go from a great high gain tone to a medium tone suitable for quiet passages where you don't want as much gain.
overall, this is my second visual sound pedal (i own a jekyll and hyde), and i'm very impressed. the build quality is fantastic, and every feature is well thought out. despite it being buffered bypass, there is no tone sucking. it actually improves your tone, because they use a quality buffer, unlike most. and best of all...it runs silently. my other guitarist was so impressed, he sold his vintage script dyna comp to get one, with $$$ to spare!
I've used a compressor for years and after the old one finally died I ordered a Visual Sound Comp 66. This does JUST what it's supposed to do and allows for tone shaping if desired and a clean boost function as well. Internally there is a noise gate with an on/off switch and a trim pot. The pedal as a whole is built miltary grade, ie like a tank. The noise gate works well and I adjusted it just slightly more than the minimum. The tone control has an on/off switch and it's a nice addition for some but I've actually just left it off for the most part. The boost is definately on the clean side an lets the spirit of the guitar come through, this function is engaged when the pedal is on and fattens up the girth when adjusted just past unity. The compression adjustment is terriffic throughout its range allowing mild compression at about 25% and increasing the 'squash factor' to extreem sustain by the time its at 100%. It can literally make almost any guitar seem like it has a sustainiac built into it. I would definately replace it and recommend it to anyone else looking for an excellent, affordable compressor.
