If you're looking for an open-sounding, amp-like overdrive with less dominant midrange, the V2 Open Road guitar pedal from Visual Sound is perfect for you. Finally, here's an overdrive pedal that delivers grind and girth. The Open Road has clear low end, sparkling highs, and none of the midrange hump found in most other boxes. Play a 6-string chord and all the notes ring through. Play a single note line and it sizzles, punch a power chord and it grinds.
The Open Road effects pedal features a very interactive tone circuit, effecting not only high-end roll-off, but gain structure as well. At any setting, at any volume, the V2 Open Road produces organic amp-like tones that might cause you to leave it on all the time.

I'm surprised no one has written a review on this pedal yet. It is an excellent pedal, and is one of the best I have ever used.
I found out about it through GuitarWorld, and after a long search, was finally able to order it through Guitar Center after a long and tiresome search(most stores dont have it in stock, you have to mail order, but they will let you return it if you dont like it so its all good)
Most Overdrive pedals simply crank the midrange, and in the end, simply add distortion, doing nothing to boost your amp. I'm happy to say this one is VERY different. I play through an Epiphone Valve Standard 15 watt tube combo amp (it has almost no distortion whatsoever) with a Epiphone G-400 Les Paul Custom, and with this pedal, its a setup I could only dream of.
As the rythm guitar, I needed a fat, powerful, and rich overdrive, especially since the lead player cranks his mids and has a rather thin tone. This pedal turned my 15 watt combo into a monster, and I can now push the amp so hard that it rattles and shakes with every chord (aka it sounds just like it should with overdrive, just on the verge of blowing up)
This Pedal gives you powerful, thick bass, and cutting highs, as well as sustain and a rediculous amount of boost (crank its level all the way up and you can sometimes double your volume) This pedal will do great with AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath era metal, Southern Rock, and just about anything else except heavy metal. It really excels at blues based rock, but will perform strongly in anything else (I've used it in metal, and while it wont get super heavy distortion, it will give you a great chuggin tone, so dont be afraid to try it) It can even be a clean boost if you set it up right, although if you're looking for that you should check out the True Boost made by this company.
Dont pass up a chance to play this pedal. It is easily worth the price, and will handle almost anything you can throw at it.
This pedal is insane. It's so nice it has an awesome bass side and a clear trebly side. It is perfect for christian music and is a perfect drive with out sounding like mush. It's an awesome pedal will definitely be keeping this on. Now to get a jekyll and hyde. Visual soundcrocks.
I've been running a Gibson Les Paul through a Fulltone OCD into a Jet City JCA20H for a while now and was very happy with it. Still am. But when I heard an Open Road demo I was impressed (and it was an online demo clip which are notorious for crappy audio quality). So I ordered one from GC in Phoenix, and when I plugged it in for the first time I was flat out blown away! This thing gives you a fatter but well defined bottom end and smooth highs(no ice picks whatsoever)without driving up the mid range.Note separation is excellent at any setting and it's very touch sensitive. It's relatively transparent but it definitely adds some sweet harmonics. I still use my OCD which I run it in front of the Open Road and they mate up perfectly. Between the two there is virtually no tone that can't be dialed in. If I had to choose between the OCD and Open Road it would be a hard choice to make. Good thing there ain't nobody that could make me choose cause I choose to keep BOTH!
