The ride cymbal clarity is beautiful with this stick; feels wonderful! Does what it's described to do. If it's designed by Erskine, you can't go wrong!

The small tips provide a lighter ping; this is a nice addition to my tonal options. Short taper shaft puts a little more weight forward so there's still some power behind the stroke.

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

The balance is great. Easy to force a crisp sound with only the fingers and wrist. The tips are very durable for wooden ones. Its the only type of sticks that I use now.

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

This is a great, well balanced stick for all kinds of music. I play primarily blues and jazz and these sticks are easy on the hands, provide a wonderful cymbal sound and hold up well. I have been using them for well over five years...will use nothing else on drum set.

            Ride Stick is no joke.

            By William Saykao

            from Sheboygan, WI

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

What can I say but WOW. This should be the quintessential Jazz stick. It brings out the best sound of any jazz ride, also it comes back with you. This stick makes it really easy to do a simple rhythm fill rhythm transition without breaking the groove. Amazing drumstick. Try this out. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

            The perfect jazz stick.

            By Will Sabol

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

Try it and you won't go back. I first bought them as a joke, but it said "Ride Stick" on the side, but its amazingly true. these sticks are awesome.
The elongated acorn tip make cymbals sound amazing! Any ride will sound better when played with this stick.
As with any wood tip stick, the tips chip and break easily on these sticks, which can be a down side. but it hasn't stopped me from using this stick exclusively for jazz.
            You literally can't go wrong.

            Ok sticks

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

these are ok sticks. If you just play for fun they are good, but not for proformances. The picture is misleading as well. They don't have nylon tips like it shows and that's why I bought them. They are wood tips and I hate that, but I only use them for backup.

            A perfect, all-around stick!

            By Winged Wheel Watcher

            from Ann Arbor, MI

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

I agree with everyone below. These sticks have a great feel and the balance on them feels so natural. These aren't just for jazz, in fact they are almost (to me) a little heavy for jazz (thicker than a 5A). Although I certainly use them for jazz, sometimes I like a lighter stick for a lighter touch. Where these really shine though is their versatility. I play in a power-pop/rock band, and this is my stick of choice for that band. They hold up well, and you can really hit hard with these when needed, but still maintain a great feel and balance point, without using heavier sticks. From jazz, to big band to rock and anything else you can think of, these truly are the perfect "go to" stick. I can't imagine a musical style where you coudn't use them (ok, maybe drum corps) but that's about it!

            Perfect Stick

            By Dlo321

            from Undisclosed

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

I have experimented with numerous kinds of sticks. I've gone from Zildjian, to Pro-Mark, to Vater, and now to Vic Firth. No doubt that these Peter Erskine Ride Sticks are the best they have. Perfect for all styles of music. I know it is a "ride" stick, but it feels good on everything on my kit (snare, 10, 12, 13,14, 16 inch toms, hi-hat, 16" 18" crash, 20" 22" ride, 18" EFX, and 2 splashes). You cannot go wrong with these sticks. They are extremely light weight, yet they have alot of power. BUY THESE STICKS

Best Jazz/Fusion sticks on the market

            By Schmidy

            from Chicago, IL

Comments about Vic Firth Peter Erskine Signature Ride Drumsticks:

After playing TONS of other sticks, I have yet to find one that generates that "classic" sound on cymbals like these sticks do. As an added bonus, the taper and length of the stick make it almost play itself. I am finally able to play uptempo jazz cleanly. The shaft is more like a 5A than a traditional jazz 7A, so I can still pull out power when I need it. Unless I'm playing extremely hard rock, this is the ONLY stick I will ever use.
