Work Great

By

from Lexington KY

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I've used these things for about three months now and they work great(better than I expected). Some of the reviews led me to believe I would have some trouble getting them to stay in place (Ralph Cooper) I don't know what he's doing that I'm not but my mutes stay in place just fine, I didn't even have to attach the Velcro on the bass drum. the end all is these thing work great when my wife vacuums I can barely hear myself play. the only down side is I get a lot of overtone out of the snare when the mute is in place so I have been setting my practice pad on the snare (works better that way anyhow).

Silence those pesky neighbors too!

By

from Portland OR

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

Work as advertised and a fair price. As with the one review a small towel placed under the snare finished the job. The biggest downside is loosing to head feel and general re-bound. I have not had the problem of them bouncing off as my toms are somewhat flatly mounted. I also elected not to use the Bass drum pad just lost way too much feel, so the old standard pillow and partial quilt finished off the job. After checking the other brands the Vic Firth are truly the top of the line.

Does the job.

By

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

Muffles the sound really well. Still get a decent amount of rebound for rolls. Makes playing upstairs bearable for the people who live downstairs. I have not had any issues with the pads slipping off of the toms. Only issues I have is that there is no 8" tom, or splash cymbal options, and the kick drum can still get pretty loud. Overall I would say that this is a great product.

Pretty good - the best of what's out there

By

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I ended up trying all 3 major brands, Vater, SoundPercussion, and finally Vic Firth. The Vater and the SP are exactly the same. Both are good. The Vic Firth, some would say are also the same but I find them slightly heavier (stay on better) and also have slightly better bounce (more realistic). I can actually do a roll on the VF, couldn't on the others. So, I guess I'll keep the VF's, until someone comes out with something that works like a real practice pad.

Quiet but "busy"

By

from Londonderry, NH

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

These do a good job of muffling but have several drawbacks. First, they are very light. They tend to bounce out of the drums and require taping (duct tatpe works) to keep them in place, especially the bass muffler. The little velcro pads give up easily and the muffler ends up tangled in teh pedal. Second, the rough and very low durometer (soft) surface grabs your stick tips, therefore, the surface feel and response is very different from the head surface. It takes getting used to. Also, the material wears very easily especially on the cymbal pads where you play in a localized area.

Gotta have if you have neighbors

By

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Vic Firth Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I knew I had to pick up a set of these before my drumset would be complete. I know Vic Firth makes another pack, I think I chose this pack because it was a few bucks cheaper and included cymbal pads for the ride AND crash. Not sure if the other one did. They incredibly reduce the volume. The cymbals have an odd after tone, but that is normal with rubber dampers. The toms and base are greatly reduced. The snare was still a little loud, so I folded a small blanket between the snare and stand and it really brought down the volume. You can play along with a metronome and still hear it. Highly recommended to keep the peace in your neighborhood. Awesome product.
