Thes sticks i have bought for the last three months, and have only went through about seven pairs which is really good for me, they also have great sound when used on the drumset. The maple wood is also more consistent than hikory so that the clarity and overall feel is better
I had to get these sticks for school and they were great! I brought them home and I was afraid I going to break them when I played with them on my set. I didn't and I tested them out by playing twice as hard as I normally do (I play really hard). At my local music store they cost $12.50 a pair. But now I find them for about $7.00. I'm gonna buy more.
The STI American General has been my main marching stick and use for snare drum in concert band type styles. It is easy to use when you want to change dynamic levels and the tip adds a special tone of sharpness to the stroke. I used it with a yamaha power-lite marching snare in a few parades and really like the precision of the beauty of Vic Firth. Great buy for anyone who loves to march or play some concert snare or toms.
I have been teaching band for 18 years. The SD1 sticks are well balanced for young percussionists and the quality is very consistent. Firth sticks are well piared (matching pitch) and are always straight, unlike many store brand sticks. Highly recommended.
