I've been using the ACR wood tip sticks for about ten years now. They are durable, sound great on ride cymbals, and are reasonably priced. The ACR is like a long 2B. Because they have excellent balance, they don't feel heavy when you are playing. If you are a drummer whose hands occasionally cramp when playing with small diameter sticks, you may want to think about stepping up to a thicker stick. If so, consider the ACR.

I'm 16 and I'm church drummer, I play 4 times a week in my church. I've been playing in church for around 5 years now, I play for 1 hour and 15 minutes every service. So I bought 2 pairs of these and I thought 5BNs would hold up, first Sunday service and they break in the 2nd song of praise. Next Sunday I use the other pair, again, breaks during performing; it got to the point where I was left one stick from each pair and used those together and once again, they broke while performing. I don't consider myself a hard hitter, mostly because I am mic'd up so there is no need to wack the drum set. I don't know why these sticks broker faster than my 5ANs that would usually last me 4 to 5 weeks. Point is, I'm disappointed in these sticks, I will not be buying anymore 5B drumsticks anymore.

broke within two weeks

By brettbags

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

I was so happy when I bought these sticks because they felt so great in the store, too bad they only last me two weeks of playing. The grip was great, the feel was great, maybe I just got a bad pair. I have owned a pair in the past, they lasted me about a month, it's not that long but they did their job.

Niiiiice sticks

By Scania86

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

Nice grip. Wears a little quickly from cymbal chipping but, otherwise they are my favs for playing on acoustics. Great price so are easily replaced once they wear out.

GET THESE STICKS!

By Jon

from Douglasville, GA

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

I got these sticks after seeing Shannon Larkin (Godsmack) using them and MAN am I glad I did. I was using Vic Firth's 2BN sticks for years, but these sticks are a little longer and I like the extra. They aren't heavy, they're balanced nicely, and are now my new favorite sticks. If you play jazz, these are too heavy, but other than that, these are perfect!

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

I too have been using the Vic Firth 5a, 5an, extreme 5a/5an and I have to say that I absolutely love them. I have played around with a few other brands and these sticks by far out play any other stick on the market. I would recommend them for any style drummer!! Keep up the good work Vic Firth!

Great Sticks

By Keith Pereira

from Silver Spring, MD

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

The Vic Firth 1A sticks are definitely a great option for drummers looking for more reach than with most other VF sticks without having to deal with weight or bulk when they play. These sticks are as thick as any of the 5A or 5B options but have that powerful Taj Mahal tip style that mirrors what you would find with a 2B or Rock model. The fact that sticks are made of hickory means that they will hold up under heavy and hard playing but their diameter means that you will still have the speed and response your looking for with any of the thinner, shorter or maple models. I highly recommend the 1As to anyone.

I love how they play... they just feel right in my hands. My only complaint is that they broke waaayyy too quickly, got them for christmas and broke them last week.

Superior comfort

By Reuben Lujan

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

Here is the honest truth. Vic Firth sticks, any size, are just the most comfortable sticks I have ever used. Playing drums seems so much easier and my creativity just flows effortlessly with these sticks. I personally love the 2B, IT'S MY GO TO TO STICK!! However, in some cases due to volume or smaller venues, I use the 5B and/or the 5A. Vic's designs makes it easy to switch and still play comfortably.

Big loud sticks

Comments about American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

I got the 3A sticks they have a very loud and open sound to them especially on the cymbals. The only complaint is that I feel every little vibration through the stick into my hands. I feel that this will wear my wands down during long shows or rehearsal and can only be used for loud music.
