I've been using the ACR wood tip sticks for about ten years now. They are durable, sound great on ride cymbals, and are reasonably priced. The ACR is like a long 2B. Because they have excellent balance, they don't feel heavy when you are playing. If you are a drummer whose hands occasionally cramp when playing with small diameter sticks, you may want to think about stepping up to a thicker stick. If so, consider the ACR.

These sticks don't get the job done.
I'm an R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap drummer for a few different artists and groups. I have my cymbals angled downwards, and hit them in a swiping motion. My drums are somewhat lower, so there's really no rim contact either. These sticks have amazing response, but they only lasted me about 30 minutes of a show. I bought 4 pairs, and they look and feel wonderful. I thought they'd be perfect for a show. So I used them, and they kept snapping. There was no shredding on the stick. They just snapped, right in half. I lost about $35 for these sticks, (again, I bought 4 pairs), they all broke in one night of playing. (About two hours).

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

I rotate between a few churches, each with very different acoustics. My go to stick is the VicFirth X5B but I needed something that would be easier to use in smaller environments so I ordered a pair of the 7A's to try and they work very well. Sticks are not the biggest factor in controlling your sound but every bit can help. These sticks are lighter in the hand and I think that makes a big difference mentally in being aware of how hard you are hitting.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

Everyone has Vic Firth sticks, and they are great sticks. I have a particular pair of sticks that have never broken yet. I've been playing drums for three years now, and i don't mean to brag, but I'm pretty fast. I always hit my crash whenever I can, and this pair of sticks has lasted me 2 years! THey are amazing and are still in good shape.

          Superior comfort

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

Here is the honest truth. Vic Firth sticks, any size, are just the most comfortable sticks I have ever used. Playing drums seems so much easier and my creativity just flows effortlessly with these sticks. I personally love the 2B, IT'S MY GO TO TO STICK!! However, in some cases due to volume or smaller venues, I use the 5B and/or the 5A. Vic's designs makes it easy to switch and still play comfortably.

          Great Sticks

          By

          from Silver Spring, MD

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Hickory Drumsticks:

The Vic Firth 1A sticks are definitely a great option for drummers looking for more reach than with most other VF sticks without having to deal with weight or bulk when they play. These sticks are as thick as any of the 5A or 5B options but have that powerful Taj Mahal tip style that mirrors what you would find with a 2B or Rock model. The fact that sticks are made of hickory means that they will hold up under heavy and hard playing but their diameter means that you will still have the speed and response your looking for with any of the thinner, shorter or maple models. I highly recommend the 1As to anyone.
