These sticks are probably the best sticks i ever owned. They are very light and it takes forever for them to start to chip and crack. I have the 5B's and the 5A's and I like the 5B's better because the weight advantage( 5B's feel like 5A's).
I bought a pair of these sticks in size 5A. They looked great and sounded great, but before long the paint started to chip away, and on day two of having the sticks, they broke. I am somewhat of a hard-hitting drummer, but on average, a pair of Vic Firth 5A's last me at least a couple months. Only buy these sticks if you are using an electronic kit and/or do not play hard.
I bought these sticks because i needed a new pair. The 7A's I'd had before were working fine for me until the tips splintered and the sticks started to crack. Those sticks lasted about a year. I found out the hard way that these sticks splintered and cracked much faster than the others. I bought them in an outlet store, so i did actually see them and get the feel. it seemed like a legit purchase until about a week later. i bought two pairs, and both did the same thing. actually, a couple days ago i was half way through the first song at a basketball game playing pep band, and one of my sticks split. so i was left hanging with half a good pair of sticks and the rest of the song to go. so if you play drums that require any volume at all or if you use cymbals (it was my hi-hat hand stick that broke), i wouldn't suggest these particular sticks. thank you. good day.
I love em. They look evil and they feel great. I bought a 4-pack. Still on the first pair. The paint seems to extend the amount of time it takes before the stick starts splintering around the neck. It does for me anyway.
These are probably the lightest drumsticks i have played with, allowing you to play incredibly fast. The only problem i have with them is how fast the paint and sticks chip.
