First of all, when I recieved them, they were to one side of the box. On that side the box was damaged and threfore the finish on the sticks was slightly damaged. Playing with them was a very good workout for my wrist chops. The bead, being more of a round shape, made open rolls easier. Also they were shorter than the stick I previously used making them feel like they moved quicker, even though they were thicker.
My primary instruments are piano and marimba, so Hannums are really fun sticks to use when jammin' on the snare. The bead is smaller than most, which shifts a bit more weight to the end, but the stick is still quick and durable. Personally, I LOVE that little extra buzz roll duration or that huge dynamic change acquired with these sticks. Truly a stick for drummers who want to sound as "musical" as Thom Hannum's stuff does.
