These are the best wire brushes I have ever had. Another reviewer mentioned getting some sort of screech? But I have no idea what they're talking about. I use a Remo Coated Ambassador on my snare and these enable me to get just the right anount of "swish". While they're not quite as good as heavy nylon brushes for a "locomotive" shuffle they are great for everything else I need brushes for. And yes they can be very loud as compared to standard bruches. Which is a very good thing. whether I'm stirring or finessing a hi-hat these give me what I want. And while I gave them five stars they aren't completely perfect. I'd like them better if they had a solid handle instead of being retractable. Also, the tubes/shaft could be a little heavier duty. It only took a few hits on the rim to create a noticable bend in one. But to be honest I was digging in a little harder than usual. But I was just having so much fun playing with them that I got carried away. And I had a few of the little balls disappear from the wire tips the very first time I used them. But the rest seem to be hanging on nicely. I like them so much that I've already bought a second pair to have as a back up just in case anything happenes to them. Try a pair, I'll wager you'll like them too.
These things are LOUD. It's very easy to get a good tone out of them, and you don't have to work hard to achieve enough volume to play forte with a full big band without a microphone. The only negative I've found is that since the brushes do speak, they showcase every mistake you make. I wouldn't recommend them for a light combo gig, but if you're looking for a 'beefier' brush, look no further.
These brushes are good dont get me wrong; there powerfull, but lighter than sticks; You could still play loud and soft with ease. Only one thing that i didn't like about the Live Wire's was that the ball tip at the end of the brush and the metal it self would make a screech sound on the head (plastic and coated) and some times the cymbal. When i tried to "stir the soup" with them, it would ALWAYS give me that screech. Besides that annoying sound, these brushes weren't that bad of a purchase.
