These brushes are louder than most, keeping that smooth jazz sweep on the snare, and you can do so much with that plastic handle. "Train-beat" with rimshots, you can hit the cymbal bell, cowbell, woodblock, toms and cymbal crashes. I played in a pit band in a musical show, and was able to play brushes along with woodblock and cowbell in a ragtime type song with these brushes. The plastic handle seems pretty strong and no sign of cracking. I play a lot of different stuff and these brushes are a mainstay of mine. I've got another pair in reserve just in case.
I play a wide variety of styles, and they have proven to be very versatile. I use them from the full spread to just about 2 inches sticking out of handle, and everything in between. Good feel and balance ,for me anyway. Like them so much I have 2 pairs. They are just a little heavier and stiffer than others. Overall excellent brushes!
These brushes are great jazz brushes. The plastic handles aren't as comfortable as the rubber handle versions but they have great metal retractable triangles at the ends that make great effects on the cymbals. I've had to buy several pairs of these brushes becuase the wires bend and it ruins the brushes. If you attempt to cut the wires yourself with wire cutters they can leave little bit of the wire that can scratch you, the drum heads, or cymbals.
