  • Nice sticks.

As reviewed by Reid on 2/23/2009

I can feel the power in these sticks. They're a little heavy, as sticks go, and definitely not for jazz or light playing. The tips mark easily on my RealFeel pad. When using the butt end of the stick to play, you have to hold it up pretty high. Otherwise the second best sticks I've ever owned, after my Hornets - only because they're more versatile.

  • great combination of power, balance and versatility

As reviewed by Honu on 12/31/2009

Stick preference is very personal to each drummer so you really have to figure out what you like in a stick. I'm not usually a fan of famous drummer signature sticks. Sure these guys use these sticks but it always seemed more like a nice marketing scheme. I've tried a number of them and most don't work for me (though I do use the Buddy Rich model occasionally). A friend of mine highly suggested the Carmine Appice sticks and I was skeptical. When I started playing them though I immediately noticed how well balanced they were in my hands. They have a heft but without that feeling of heavy lumbar like 2b's or larger sticks. The tip is a bit smaller than I like but I could still get a good solid smack with it. What stands out most is the playability of the sticks. I could move them around the kit well and felt like I could adjust my dynamics easily. These sticks hit a nice sweet spot for me, power with enough lightness for dynamic touch. I highly recommend a test drive.

  • Great sticks!

As reviewed by Justin McNeill on 9/10/2009

These sticks feel heavy in the grip, but they also allow you to have a nice bounce to the stick due to the way it tapers off to a 5a tip. You can really fly with these sticks yet the grip feels like a heavier stick. If you want to get heavier ,just turn the stick around to use the butt end. Also the knurled butt end allows you to have more finger control of the stick.
