Developed for the player who is looking for ultimate rebound on the drum and ride cymbal, the American Jazz line consists of 6 models which feature a long taper in the shaft for that great feel! • Vic Firth Jazz Sticks

As reviewed by Boonedrums on 8/2/2007

I have been in the search for a perfect stick for decades. For my needs, the Vic Firth Jazz sticks come the closest. Most of my playing is in the jazz trio setting where I have to be careful of volume. The AJ6 works well for faster playing on the cymbals as it is a very light stick and allows for some nice, delicate playing. However, the sound projection on lower toms is not very good. The wood tips also tend to shred after a few hours of playing. The AJ3,AJ4 and AJ5 are a more versatile stick for me. They work well for big band, rock, latin as well as small ensembles. They draw out good tone from the cymbals and toms. The tips of these sticks tend to stay intact longer.

  • Great.

As reviewed by Drumrdude on 11/1/2006

This Vic forth drum stick is one of my favorites there is. Great for hard hitting drummers because these last a long time. They sound great with 2 ply heads, and they also sound really warm. Great for rock. I like them allot. Bye the way, all the sizes are good.

  • Vic Firth AJ6

As reviewed by GHCCDrummer on 10/3/2006

The Vic Firth AJ6 line of sticks has amazing rebound and articulation on cymbals and drums. Their smaller size naturally produces much quieter sound and I find them very suitable for small jazz combos or any band that requires lower volumes. The only downside with these sticks is their narrow diameter. The narrow diameter causes hands to tense up their muscles more because the fingers have to be more closed in order to hold the stick. For a wider, more-relaxed grip, choose the AJ1's.
