very disappointed with this interface. there was a significant lag in responsiveness from disc platter to screen cue point. There were fairly big jumps when you try to fine tune your syncopation of program and cue tracks, even with platter sensitivity all the way up. Gain knobs do not respond unless you throw faders to max limit in both directions before Virtual DJ responds - though this may be a VDJ application issue, unsure as of now. If you have never dj'd before, yeah you can learn on this, somewhat. Experienced dj's, those who have the ability to sync tracks, stay away. I wound up returning mine.
The reason I got this piece of gear was to be able to make mixes in the hotel room while I travel and DJ. However, I got asked to DJ a high school dance and I figured I mine as well try this controller out and see how well it works with mobile events. Three times in a row, Serato Intro crashed and I had to restart my laptop. Luckily I had my CDJs close and hooked up regular Serato. I do not recommend this to be a good buy at all. It's a great idea and has cool features, but persistency is everything in this game. I'd suggest using a VESTAX VCI 300, or anything that would connect to Serato-Itch instead of Intro.
I recently got this controller for my birthday. Out of the box it was ready to play and the software (I got virtual DJ LE) was fairly simple to set up. The controls are generally responsive and the general layout is simply fantastic. My only complaint is the gain isn't the most responsive knob. Other than that it's amazing. The deck looks sick in the dark too!
I bought 3 different MIDI decks, and all of them had something wrong. I tried it on computers ranging from Windows XP, Vista, and 7. The Vestex was the only one to perform some tasks. All of the drivers were updated. Fortunately, I got a refund for all 3 (bought one, returned it, got another, etc.). None of them specify that it has to be for a Mac, which is why I got them. They all said 'PC and Mac' (PC being Windows, I would assume).
This little think packs a punch! you can scratch, nudge, fade, and add effects all very easily with the typhoon. I have used this at venues such as high school dances, to house parties, to clubs, and it manages to do the trick for all venues. Looping is very simple, and all of the respone times of the knobs, faders, and buttons is very quick.
I bought this controller at the beginning of the summer as a easy segway into bedroom DJing. I use it at all my gigs now. It is very sturdy and has good faders. There is low latency and the jog wheels don't slip. If you want to scratch, however, look for its counter parts because it cannot scratch effectivly. Over all...this is a very good controller for beginners and pros
