Sharing their technology and compiled feedback from pro DJs and users from around the world, Vestax and Serato have created the VCI-300 DJ Controller, a dedicated DJ USB MIDI/Audio system that includes Serato's ITCH software for absolute control. The VCI-300 also comes with a built-in audio interface with standard 4 In/4 Out and headphone connection, which means all you need for DJing is the VCI-300, a laptop, and a set of headphones.
High-resolution Control The Vestax VCI-300 can control more than 90 parameters and functions of the included Serato software with high-resolution MIDI signals sent via USB. The pulse resolution of the jog wheel and pitch control fader is 4 times higher than the VCI-100, and provides precise control of each function. The pitch control fader also shares the same high quality fader parts of the input fader for advanced operability.
Superb Audio Characteristic The built-in audio interface carries an Audio Codec IC with superb audio characteristic, generated by a delta-sigma modulation 24-bit stereo D/A-A/D converter. The audio connection includes 1 stereo input, 1 MIC input, and 2 stereo outputs (Master L/R, Monitor L/R).
Level Indication A 12 level LED L/R indicator is set in the center of the top panel to monitor sound levels.
File Control Audio files in the software library can be easily selected and controlled with the CRATES/FILES/BROWSE key and the cursor switch.
Emergency Thru Switch The Emergency Thru Switch located on the rear panel is a countermeasure where you can use the VCI-300 with the provided ITCH software or without the computer connected if you simply want to play music from your external CD or MP3 player. The ITCH software reads music from your iTunes library or the Serato library you use for Scratch LIVE, making it a practical device for recreational and professional DJ's alike.
Adjustable Jog Wheel Torque The torque of each weight-adjusted jog wheel can be adjusted to prevent them from moving from low frequency feedback and altering the pitch when using the VCI-300 DJ controller in such places like clubs.
Fader Curve Control The fader curve of each fader can be adjusted to the preferred characteristics for long mixes, scratching, and any other style.

8 of 10 are lemons I have to dj friends that have them including myself. They have send theres in twice for repairs. I purchased a brand new one in january, march first its being sent back. Now when it works the way its desighn its the best since sliced bread. Vestex has the worse customer support, they autherized dealer still is waiting on a them to sent my new unit they promoised me. I've lost 3 gigs that were paying $700 a piece. pioneer is coming out with one don't waist your time on vestax.
Bought this when it barely came out, was as easy as plug and play to setup! I just installed the drivers and Serato Itch, plugged this baby in, and was DJing! No need to configure anything, worked flawlessly with Itch. As a professional gigging club DJ, I was tired of lugging around my heavy equipment. The VCI 300 is smaller, but don't let the looks fool you, its really well built, metal casing, high quality knobs that can withstand abuse...Serato Itch is a great clean program to use, the overlays are nice. The only downside is Itch lacks effects, and the VCI 300 only works with Serato Itch. I got around thisa by hooking up the outputs of the VCI 300 to an external mixer that did have effects. Some people might have a problem with this but I don't. I highly recommend this!
The VCI 300 is extremely fun to use, the controls are clean, no BS, and no latency drama. Make sure that if you're using a laptop that its at least dual core 2.0 ghz or faster, and make sure you have at least 2-4 GB of RAM. (For a gigging DJ I recommend maxing it out at 4GB)
As far as Serato Itch goes, the program is really well designed. The beat spectrometer or whatever its called is brilliant, and makes manual beat matching fun! This program lacks effects, but I still enjoyed it more than Traktor. Traktor is too complicated and often times the DJ relies too much on effects, Itch strips this all down and makes the DJ actually think of creative ways to transitions songs other than the usual Reverd/Delay/Flanger formula which most DJ's are used to.
I guess you can hook up an external effects processor to the VCI300 outs if you really want to, but I don't need to.
