This DMX scanner package is great for beginners. The instructions are somewhat difficult to understand so you will need a basic understanding of DMX dip switches before you buy this. The colors and gobos are nice. I wish the DMX controller came with pre-programmed scenes and more channels though. I used the lights for no more than 2 hours and the lamps blew out! Overall, if you are new to DJ lighting, you should consider this due to the low price. But don't forget, you get what you pay for!

great lights for the price!

By Tim Miller

from Indianapolis Indiana

These lights are great! I run them in a mobile rig and have had no problems with them, between them bouncing around in the trailer and just handling them. the dmx board is very basic but controls all of my other dmx lights. Did have a problem with the orginal lamps going out but put a higher quality lamp in and no problems since. Such a great price ready to buy another set

Nice lights for the money

By Pete C

from Lawrenceville, GA

I brought these in clearance sale at local GC 2 years ago, and so far no problems with lights. The controller is very basic, you can program some basic sequences but don't expect too much. The automatic music mode is good enough for my requirements. My only compliant would be you have set a DIP switch to go from DMX to auto music mode, with other lights you can control that via DMX, so you can switch between your sequences and automatic mode without having to touch the light (fine if it was not 15' up in my front room). I wanted to add a basic scan light for home parties and at this price it was spot on.

Good for the price

By Jay

from CT

I purchased these because our lighting guy was leaving the company and was taking his Martin MX-4s with him. I needed something to replace them without spending a fortune. Friday night I ended up using the MX-4s AND the Scanpacks and the scanpacks were brighter! They worked great and I am happy with them. The ONLY problem so far are the manuals (if thats what you want to call them) have something to be desired. Impossible to understand. Took me 2 hour to get them to work with the DMX. I still to this day havent figured out how to program things. all i can do is manually move them, but that was cool to my audience on there own. PLUS there is no other manuals on line for these. I hope they come out with one. Hope this helps out.

Not good!

By Arron

from Sacramento

Ok first off let me start by saying I've spent alot of money through guitar center. I have probably had about as many good experiences as bad. However I'm starting to notice a trend in lighting equiptment. This is the fourth set of lighting stuff I have ever bought through guitar center and this is the third set out of 4 items that have been defective. To sum it up i bought these lights plugged them in once everything ok. The 2nd time within a day part I hooked it up and the bulb had already burnt out. So as I said i think it probably has something to do with the fact that lights don't hold up well in shipping but in general they aren't a very reliable set of lights from what I can tell. I can say though that customer service was pretty good to me. So not hating on guitar center as a whole but I would not recommend lighting from them.

There good At first.............

By Mark Z

from Atlanta , Georgia

At First I was really amazed with these lights, I had a gig the next day so I brought these lights along. About half way through the party one of the lamps died then before the party ended the other did. I bought new lamps, and it seemed to fix the problem. The lights are great I would just suggest getting replacement lamps of a higher quality.

Not too bad but...

By Jeff

from Leland, IL

Got these and pleased for the most part. As others have said, the instructions are minimal (and have some mis-information in them) and my lamps quit working at around 2 hours as well-both failed within a few minutes of each other. I ordered some ELC3 lamps (550 lumens) to try, plus I'm going to hang them "mirrors up" and see if that helps with the bulb life. Have a good understanding of binary math to set the dip switches! As far as looks and operation, nice and bright...they look fantasic with a little fog in the air.

????

By Need some help

I bought this rig for a great price; I had been looking at it for awhile. Got home got it set up and the power supply to the DMX box kept going out? There is no user guide on this thing on the internet. I do like it and it does everything I like, just wish it came with good instructions.

Venue 250 Scan Pack

By Kenneth R. Coulter

from Piqua. Ohio

Being a D.J. well I`ve bought quite a few items from Guitar Center and have enjoyed them all. I`ve been fortunate and lucky enough to never have had any problems with anything. But the lights I just bought I got for my son and he loves them. He would like to be a Concert Light Technition someday and he plays with all the lights we have in our big garage. He`ll program them and make`em do things I didn`t know they could do. We love the Venue 250 Scan Pack. They work great with our Intelligent lights which we also bought from Guitar Center thanks.

Hold Your Horses

By Len

from Peoria, IL

Don't buy this yet. Just got mine and it ran awesome for about 10 minutes, then the bulb driver failed in both scanners. The bulbs are verified to still be good and all the other functions seem to be fine (pan, tilt, gobos, etc), just no power to the bulbs. The two scanners failed within about 10 minutes of each other. I'll try to get this resolved with GC and will let you know how it turns out.
